On Christmas day I drove the 52 Mult 115 JTD home, popped in to get something, came out and it wouldn't start.

Cranks over OK but won't fire.

The engine management light isn't on so when the garage plug their computer in it doesn't show anything.

There is fuel geting to the injectors (cracked a joint open and it comes out) but the injectors aren't triggering to inject.

Garage say they could replace each sensor and ECU in turn until they find what's wrong or maybe Main Dealer would have further diagnostics.

Any ideas!

Thanks

John

You could try the fuel reset button, its in the engine bay somewhere?
Try a search.

just had the exact same thing happen to mine on the way home from 35 miles away tonight.

Only thing that was different than any other time i have used the car is a sat nav was plugged into the cigarette lighter to charge. I have never used that cigarette lighter before - maybe a coincidence but too much of one.

Anyway i stopped at tesco garage for about 20 minutes - got chatting- then on coming back to the car it turned over but wouldn't start, no lights although the injector stayed on but i would expect that when the engine isn't running.

Opened the bonnet to check for loose turbo pipes / fuel leaks etc but all fine. Don't know why but i thought i'd disconnect the MAF and try again ( I think its the MAF could be MAP ) turned it over and it fired immediately. Plugged the connector back in and drove home without trouble.

No idea why it worked - low voltage, higher resistances than normal?:slayer:

Kev, My JTD has been doing the same thing recently. Where exactly is the MAF located?

Mine started to do this but im sure a good scanner came up with crank angle sensor which at £28 was an easy fix.
