We have had a 52 plate 115jtd elx for 18 months now and have found it to be a super family car. The last couple of weeks the car has developed a bad knock and vibration while accelerating, is ok if gentle between 2-2.5k revs, and the vibration returns above 2.5k revs. Our independant garage has made the normal checks for mis-fire, engine management, shafts, dirty fuel etc and can only suggest a problem with the dual mass flywheel. He is not totally convinced of this and can only check through removal of the gearbox!!. I cannot find info on anyone having had a similar problem and am concerned to do this bearing in mind it has only covered 40k. Can anyone help?

Thanks for reading

Peter

Had the gearbox removed yesterday, it seems the Dual mass flywheel had failed internally giving a 30 deg movement, the release bearing has also welded itself to the clutch!! new flywheel, clutch and bearing fitted today, 10/10 to Barge Motors Yeovil for correct identification and rectification of the fault-will definitely use them again.
