Finally took some photos of my little car :)

Excuse the horrible red blanket on the back, me and the missus had just taken the dog for a walk along the beach!

No modifications, and i'm not really planning much. Just got a nice new headunit today though :) Looking forward to fitting that and getting some upgraded speakers. Angel eyes would also be nice, but i'm not really into this whole bodykit business.

More pics to follow soon :)

nice motor, im like that, my car will stay standard for as long as i can keep it that way

thanks :) i was expecting to get slated for saying that! most people that are 'enthusiasts' go in for that, and i must say some cars look really good like that (there's a chap on here called steve i think with a very smart orange modified car, and im sure there are plenty more!) i just can't really afford it (or would rather spend my money on holidays with MrsDT ;))

could do with a few 'smart' mods, like clear side repeators and indicators

way ahead of you buddy :) i quite fancy angel eyes (with projector indicators included, not slapped next to standard headlights j/k ;)) and am not sure if i want clear or blue tinted sides. also thinking if i had tinted sides i'd tint the rears to match. need to get busy with potatoshop first though to help decide!

angel eyes would be around the £150 mark i guess, but i reckon they're worth it. the other bits will be cheap as chips :) i'm thinking about a center console (£10-20 from the scrappies), a car pc (already being constructed, screen hopefully in the console), racing style steering wheel (inc boss kit, £50 on the bay if im lucky) etc. i just don't think i'll be paying hundreds of pounds on extra weight that has no function ie bumpers, skirts, spoilers etc (again, it looks smart, if done well, but it's a lot of money and hassle for me!)

Cheers for all the comments guys :) can't wait to drive her around on my own! (stupid me failing my test :()

Thanks for the comments on the car mate(y) Just hope the 'bug' doesn't get you you never know when to stop when you start:eek: You definately need to get your ice sorted though

Steve

well steve, your car looks pretty spot on in my opinion (y) this is my first car though, and i'm still on l plates, so i doubt i'll spent that much on something that's bound to suffer a couple of bumps in the not too distant future! (also, she cost me just over a grand, mods would end up costing a lot more and i'd never get it back in resale!)

thanks pid, i test drove a dark green and a charcoalish grey one too, but the metallic blue won (y)

here's a few more pics:

took some pics of the footwell to try and work out if a kickpanel speaker setup would work. sadly, i reckon i'd end up putting my foot through them! to add to my 'potential' minor mods, plasma dials would be nice :)

I had a think about foot well speakers decided noway I am so bloody clumsy I would have been wearing it:eek:

Just to give you a bit of confidence, I have only been driving 2yrs this March, had the car a year before that, started modding straight after passing :) only had 1 little bump and that was with a pillar in a multistory:( Lets hope I have not tempted fate:worship:

Whats resale value:) lost nearly 50% all ready:) and that is with out the mods.

Steve

I love the colour too :D I agree that subtle, smart mods are the way to go, they can add a lot of classiness to the car :) Out of interest, I joined this forum, said the car was staying standard, then said I wasn't painting it pink FOR SURE

<--- then two years later

Good luck with the whole lessons and test thing :)

MrsDT thinks i'm the clumsiest man alive steve  maybe not then eh?

Sammi, the pics were taken at 'Dinas Dinlle' a nice little beach in my area :)

Helz, i really won't be "painting it pink FOR SURE" ;)

Thanks for the comments guys (y)

edit: beau, thanks, but a bit rich for my blood... and red?

I'd start by doing a bit of colour coding - door handles, mirrors, boot handle, badges (anything removable lol) and getting some alloys. Mine are 14" Tempra wheels

colour coding, perhaps. luckily the bumper etc already are, apart from the little black strips. i do think your handles look really smart though (y)

alloys are probably a no. need to see how it might affect my insurance, and new trims are a cheaper option if i go kerbing her! i think the trims look tidy as they are, so they don't really bother me at the moment.

had considered the gsi induction kit too. she sounds surprisingly meaty when shifting anyway, but a bit of noise and a supposed increase in power would be nice. sadly, i think the insurance company would rape me if i did anything that might be considered a 'performance' mod (n)

Nice car, Im not a fan of blue but i like that colour. I think its the same of my dads Brava.

We do custom door pods that house component sets (A mid-range speaker, Tweeter and Crossover if you didnt know  ) If ever you're interested then PM me (y) We also do custom Kickpanel speaker pods if you want some made up that'remodeled to fit perfectly off my punto. (y)

GSR induction kits are the nuts! but not sure when it comes to insurance...

The alloys I have are 5.5" wide x 14" diameter, so they are standard size wheels (therefore the insurance don't mind) the tyres are wider than the rims so the rims are protected to an extent from kerbs lol

would the door pods just clip on? I like the matching interior trim, and didn't really like the thought of replacement door cards covered in non-matching fabric. i've never played around with fibreglass, so fabricating my own seems quite daunting! i'd love to simply remove the doorpockets, and stick something with door pods in their place. would there be an option to revert back to stock at a later date if needed?

finally, the doorpods, how do the speakers 'breathe'? i understand components use the entire door panel as their enclosure? sx model mk1 puntos don't have a hole cut in the actual door panel for speakers do they (so not enough air to drive the speakers to full capacity)?

cheers :)

(oh, if you want to plonk in a price here in this thread that's cool with me, or just pm :))

oh, i always though any upgrades like that affected insurance. so your saying stock sized but expensive wheels would be fine? still, i don't have hundreds of pounds spare at the moment, but worth keeping in mind for the future :)

The door pods just Screw in from behind like the existing ones do. The speaker is brought out a little from the door and angled towards the driver/passenger on each side. Its the most effective way of getting good SQ (y) Seeing as they are brought out from the door they have a small enclosure behind them that give the speaker/mid-range/sub its bass kick (its not massive but gives you the mixture of treble and bass that you want. Id do a pair for a 5 door for £100. They can be fabric matched at that or smoothed and painted for £120, all i need is the full dimensions off the cross-over set and the style you would want. If you want more info just say (y)
