Re: Fiat 500 Joyful White Pearl

Thank you, Lucas! For this non-facelift version I like these the most too. Some of the facelift ones are looking pretty great but I'm trying to keep the car as clean and stock as possible.

Currently looking to get a set of wheel hub caps as the paint on my remaining 3 is kind of falling apart.

Re: Fiat 500 Joyful White Pearl

Few items that I changed/did to the car since I bought it for my wife 1 year ago:
  • Monroe rear shock absorbers
  • Cleaning the starter motor
  • Aftermarket remote key fob
  • Textile interior (to replace the thorn red faux leather one)
  • Rubber trunk and floor mats (for the cold and rainy seasons)
  • Nokian Weatherproof all-season tyres
  • Bosch wiper blades
  • NGK spark plugs
  • Luk clutch kit
  • GM GL4 transmission oil
  • Cleaning the throttle body

Hoping to post pictures soon.

Next on my list:
  • Have the aircon compressor checked (pulley sounds very bad whenever compressor kicks in)
  • Replace vibrating radiator fan
  • Fix the Power Steering light coming during cold season
  • Fix the loose handbrake (check the drum brakes and cables)
  • Fix the tappety noise (worst during cold starts)
  • Headlights polishing and film wrapping for protection
  • Moonroof not retracting fully
  • Slight idle variation
  • Exhaust back pressure at low RPM

Did my brake discs & pads last week!
Changed my stereo for a touchscreen swapped all speakers & installed under seat sub

Re: Fiat 500 Joyful White Pearl

Thanks! I guess I chose the car for her and i feel responsible for bringing it to a good working condition. Besides, i'm also using the car for the short city drives, so I want it running smoothly too. It's also great when we can save family money (either by doing the work myself or documenting about the issue before reaching some garage, buying parts cheaper including) 😁.

Yourself on the other hand, doing the car work on your own, that's even more special and rare. Congrats, really! The operations you mentioned may discourage a lot of friends of mine that can barely replace an air filter.

Some people took better advantage of the lockdown than others!
All the best.

Re: Fiat 500 Joyful White Pearl

Few more updates:

- radiator fan got replaced - old one had its resistor broken (caught in the case, hence causing additional noise) besides some wear causing vibrations
- handbrake got adjusted and now usually holds enough at the very first click.
- tappety noise was FINALLY fixed by replacing a broken bolt in the cylinder head (exhaust side), new exhaust gasket got fitted too as part of this job.

Small update: Engine choking on high electrical demand got solved after replacing battery with new Varta Blue Dynamic 44Ah and also a new earth strap from chassis to gearbox.

Re: Fiat 500 Joyful White Pearl

Thank you for the info, @John202020!
I tested the rear wheels with the lever down and they rotate fairly easy, barely any resistance. I should add, when the road is little bit steeper, 2 clicks do the job in keeping the car steady, still most of the times 1 is enough.

Re: Fiat 500 Joyful White Pearl

Hi! My Fiat is almost new, 12000km, and the handbreak isn’t so good... I think it’s a factory setting so it’s ok.

Re: Fiat 500 Joyful White Pearl

Hi, 12000km are very few. Maybe there was some intervention on the brakes since the release from factory (unless you bought the car brand new). Mine definitely needed adjusting as the handbrake's condition was just terrible.
