Fiat Idea Eleganza 1.4 16v

Hi All,

Been on here a fair while now but thought it about time I posted a few pic's of my little Fiat. It's a Fiat Idea Eleganza 1.4 16v, bought with just under 66k on the clock (Verified), slight damage to drivers door, rear drivers side door and wing mirror, also a broken drivers headlight and for the grand total of 150, original price was 550 but made a cheeky offer due to the problems and they accepted

Reason for 150, was the damage listed above as per picture 2, plus the fact the dash was showing an Engine Management Failure Light (after reading this forum, took the gamble that it was down to a completely FLAT battery). Got it started and engine ran fine, drove it home the 30 miles carefully just in case (no problems). Took the battery off and gave it a full charge and hey presto ZERO WARNINGS or Lights..... RESULT !!

Have a few mod's I want to do to this car as I think it's a great little runabout, so will update this thread as/when they happen.

Re: I Have an Idea .....

So first update.

Been a little busy today in changing over the headlight that was damaged (No Brackets Left holding it in), so took the chance on upgrading them to the later clear style ones Bought the replacements off a Fiat Mutipla 2006 model, same part numbers as the Fiat Idea.

RH Drivers (Clear) = p/n 51780721
LH Passenger (Clear) = p/n 51780725

or if you still want the orange indicator lenses then the numbers are as follows:

RH Drivers (Orange) = p/n 51747610
LH Passanger (Orange) = p/n 51747611

Both sets above are for headlights fitted WITH Fog Lights !!

Mk2 Fiat Multipla's used the same headlights and are usually cheaper to buy than Fiat Idea listed ones.

Also fitted my Fiat Forum Sticker:

Headlights Before:

Headlights After:

Fiat Forum Sticker Located on Tailgate Window:

Still trying to source the Drivers Front Door and Drivers Side Passenger Door but hardly any Silver Fiat Idea's about let alone breaking. Plenty of Orange, Red or Blue Cars but no Silver. Also still trying to source the Silver Front Grille that was fitted to certain colour cars between 2006-2007.

New headlights are 72 Euro (each) in NL

The Multipla lights are more expensive.
BTW these lights are EU version not for the UK

BTW2 The silver grill was for the more expensive Idea's

My Idea is a top of the range Eleganza model. Also picked up a complete set of Fiat Stilo Blade Alloys & centre caps today for 80. So i'll get them re-furbished and fitted end of next month.

Re: I Have an Idea .....

In NL (2006) the "Emotion" was the "Top" model.
I have the Emotion Dualogic 1.4 16V 8/2006 fully loaded with half-leader, parking sensors at the back, split Climat Control, extra storage at the roof inside, radiocontrol from the steering wheel etc.
The only thing extra you could add at that time (in NL) was Cruise Control, Navigation and a large Sunroof.
I miss the Cruise Control but aftermarket stuff is too expensive for me. (600 euro)
Did you get an answer from Germany about the grill ?

Being a 2004 model my Eleganza doesn't have the Half Leather or steering wheel radio controls but has everything else except cruise control, Navigation or the Sunroof.

Emailed Germany twice and never had a reply to either email

Re: I Have an Idea .....

Little bit of an update on the old girl. New 17" Blade Alloys have gone off for a refurb.

Seem to have found the problem with my battery going flat roughly every 2 months, Eper states my car 'should' have a 90amp alternator fitted due to the extras on the car yet mine seems to have had a 70amp one fitted which is what the online sites 'suggest'.

So doing a little research it seems the later models had the 90amp or 120amp alternator fitted to the 1.4 16v engine depending on spec, so I've sourced a Denso 120amp unit off ebay for 20, Fiat Part number 51859041 and will see if that fits/works after having it checked out first.

Search for my Silver Drivers side doors continues as well as the later Silver Front Grille.

Re: I Have an Idea .....

Been a while for an update but managed to find a later style Silver front Grille, so that's been fitted.

Also fitted a NEW Fiat Locking Fuel cap c/w 2 keys (p/n: 71802520). These fit a few models so worth asking, got mine from Partsworld for 18 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-500-G...-/230398837958)

So I now have two layers of protection, the electronic fuel flap and the locking fuel cap

The search for the elusive silver doors continues, but may have found a wing mirror and door handles as a sort of stop gap.
