Grande Punto My 1.2 Active GP Black

Introduction

So this is my baby. I call her Phoebe lmao. now a list if what ive done/doing to her.

  • Tinted windows full black on rear windows
  • Tinted front windows to legal requirement
  • added wind deflectors
  • added punto decal (white) on the sides above skirts
  • added punto decals to wing mirrrors
  • punto overlay on rear middle break light (see pictures)
  • removal of punto badge on boot
  • added Aux lead to radio
all very basic things that set the car off nicely

things im currently doing:
  • alloys. already purchased there being delivered wednesday morning (silver multispoke wolfrace 15")
  • debadging front grill. again waiting for it to be delivered then a quick black spray and ill fir that no problem
  • also looking to fix the condensation in rear fiat badge
what i wanna do in the future. well theres only really lowering it that i really wanna do. but price is an issue. not just to have it done but i reckon insurance will rape me if i do that.

so what you think? i will of course post photos weekend of the Alloys and debadged grill. but for now a little imagination is necessary :D

Good to hear that the claim should be 50/50 at the worst!
Also repair job looks great and the removal of the side stripe makes the car look so much smarter (y) I even like the matte black mirror caps now:D makes the car look much more stealth. Some Abarth headlamps would make this car look amazing!!

Yeh stealth is a nice look. But I'll be honest with you I've never really been set out on a specific look. If I like something and it suits the current look of the car then ill go for it. With Abarth lights i'd rather not. Don't know why I just don't want to lol. I am however really considering plasti-dipping my wheels black with the metallic effect finish? :yum: and thanks for the compliments though I appreciate it.

Hi Matthew,

Just to say, read all of this thread and love your car!

Looks very tidy. I thought about getting the same stripes as you but might go for something else. In my opinion your car does look better without the stripes but as you so rightly put earlier in the thread its your car and are free to do with it as you wish ;)

I also have condensation in my badge (whats up with that!?) so i'll be getting that replaced when I get paid :)

Sucks to hear about the guy going into your side but looks like everything is coming up well now anyway (y)

Thank you (y) with the sides stripe. I always loved my stripe but since removing it I love the car more now lol (could be that new love thing. Because its new and different I like it at the moment, but then the ex-girlfriend (in this case the stripes lol) starts popping back into your head and you miss them). But I would of still had them on if I could go back to the day I bought them. So it's all personal preference. How about maybe designing your own vinyl? Nothing to extreme like.

With the condensation in the badge I could never work out how it got there. I think it is bad fitting between the glass and chrome surround.. But since buying and plasti-dipping my new one it looks brilliant. And for a tender you can't moan. Did you see my badge post and then my plasti-dip thread then? Simple things sometimes make the biggest changes.

And thanks for the wishes. And yeh it will all sort itself out eventually in one way or another  just a lot of stress and hassle which is completely unneeded you know what I mean.:(

I did just watch the video and it looks ace. This is something i've never done before but i'm keen to try, what kind of prep did you have to do?

Soap and water and make sure it's dry before you apply lol. Do Watch the videos online to do with plasti-dip because a lot of them do show you very clearly how to apply. Including things like making sure the first coat is very light and then slowly but surely build up the layers rather than just applied thickly etc. worth a go I think. As it looks amazing on the badge. Especially on my black car.

Hey dude! Just looked through your thread! You car is pretty nice! I never usually like Wolfrace alloys but yours look nice!
As for the hundreds of comments about Abarth Headlights, try this website, only a few quid cheaper than Partsworld but its a couple of pints worth ;)

Keep up the good work! (y)

Thanks for the compliments dude :) and yeh I really think the alloys suit the car. I will probably replace the centre caps on them soon so there's fiat badges in the centre. And cheers for the link ill take a look when I get home, I'm at work using my iPhone at the moment lol. But yeh cheers ill check your car out too :)

So an update on my Beloved GP. It's going :( I am expecting my first child in April and unfortunately need a bigger car. So I've gone for a 2008 Renault Megane 1.6 VVT Dynamique. :) it's got all the trimmings. including fogs, alloys, cruise control, air con. Automatic headlamps and wipers etc. so all in all not a bad car to upgrade too. But I will miss the GP's beautiful looks. So thank you all to everyone that's looked, complemented and helped me with my car. But as I become a dad I need to move on. I may stay around on the boards to keep checking on some of your guys awesome build's. might have a play around in the non fiat threads too. But I'll leave you all for now with a nice pic of my new baby. :)

Cheers fiat forum :worship:

Long time since I've been on here. Would like to point out to anyone that has thought about buying renault..

DON'T

It's a horrid car. Dnt get me wrong its got a lovely powerful engine. but its Badly made. Everything rattle's and just doesn't turn heads like my GP did. I've had problem after problem. And the electrics are absolutely horrid.

I will be back on these forums properly soon enough, just need to find me a nice Bravo ;) I'm thinking 1.9 turbo.

But seriously. Don't buy Renault.

Shame about the Renault. They are nice looking cars, but your not the first to experience this sort of issue with them. Oh, and we don't want you back unless your in a GP!

Nahhh, be good to see you back regardless what you get, Bravo's are nice (not a GP though)

where did u buy the rear brake light decal ? i like the look of it
it was an eBay job pal. The seller I bought it from no longer exists but there are customisable ones on there still I'd contact one of them and ask them to make a custom one with the Punto logo.

I'd actually get an Evo Punto if it wasn't for the fact I have a 14 week old baby :p

But I'll happily admit I always admired the bravo's. lovey cars. I think the megane is ugly, the top end models with colour coded bumpers and chrome trimmings on the grills etc dont look too bad but it's still horrid. I only bought it because it was a bargain with its specs, mileage and space. Turns out its been made by a two year old. Nothing fits properly in the car and everything creaks and rattles on the interior. It's just a bad car.

Not a two year old, just designed by someone French lol, I'd personally rather trust the Italians ;)

Hey GP'ers. for anyone that remembers me just thought id point out i'm back on the site with another FIAT, upgraded myself to a beautiful Bravo Dynamic T-Jet 120. glad to be back after 8 months of hell with a Renault Megane. which i blame all of you for because none of you stopped me!! haha but no seriously it was terrible and i'm so glad i'm Italian again. anyway here she is. lovely condition. got lots of toys. that beautiful T-Jet engine and whoever bought it new had factory privacy glass. so thank you whoever it was...
