Punto (Mk2/2b) thund3rdom3's Snowman mk2b =).

Introduction

thund3rdom3's mk2b low&slow

just one day after I said goodbye to my mk1, this one came to my yard; it's a 2004 mk2b powered by 1.2 8v engine packing the allmighty 60HP :D

It's still in stock, only the trunk is without lights and badges (except the "Punto" one, that will be removed soon). I only put in some music, since it came with no radio :bang: .. the HU is Pioneer DEH3300UB, enough for my needs, the front system is Hertz DSK165 and the rear is Hertz DCX 690, I finally hear the music, and with pretty good quality, considering the hardware used (entry level, no amp or woofer). The only problem is, and I learned now for the future, never rush into anything ; the speakers had to be installed THAT VERY MOMENT, and all went fine, except the positions of the tweeters ( see pics below) :bang::worship::bang::D

As for the future plans :

- coilovers are already ordered, they should come in one month time, maybe less.. that's when he goes closer to the floor :D
- Renault Laguna lip, which was intended to go on my mk1, will now be going here
- since I got new winter tires with the car, steelies will be sprayed black, and I'll start saving money to get some nice alloys & rubber till the summer
- blacked out headlights, debadged front grill, maybe some black mudflaps (just for the winter :D ), stickers..

these are just basic plans, there will be more done during the process, but for now, this is enough info, now it's time for some pics :)

...and after one year, we come to this look... :D

@samurai - these are not painted, they're sprayed.. the color needs to stay for this winter, i believe i will then get them widened and properly painted for the next winter :) and once again, they're not staying white (maybe i'll respray them today,or for the weekend), actuallly only the rear are now white, front ones are finished..

:confused:spraying is painting, its just the way its done. if you used rattle can spray paint, the finish wont last all that long and will quickly stain from brake dust etc, if you used 2k paint with a compresser and spray gun, it will last longer, and powder coating is the best finish you will get and the most durable.

Re: thund3rdom3's Snowman mk2b =)

sorry, as you may noticed i'm croatian and believe me our language is pretty complicated, it takes me some time to switch to english and i make mistakes on daily basis :D so sry about that :)

i meant rattle can spray paint, exactly because i don't wanna spend money on regular paint (quite more expensive than rattle cans here) when i'm planning to widen them in near future, when they're properly done they'll be properly painted (y)

Re: thund3rdom3's Snowman mk2b =)

there only steel alloys lol, i used halfords spray paint on my sporting alloys in white, and used 4 coats of lacker. they looked as good as they did on the first day 6 months later, its about how you look after them afterwards that matters.

however powercoating is the best way, but expensive, and i dont know many people who would have steel alloys powdercoated

Steel wheels and alloys are totally different..? Never heard of steel alloys

Re: thund3rdom3's Snowman mk2b =)

@ rawb , idk if KT1s will go on this car.. as i said, i'm missing about 400€ and i don't believe they'll be waiting for me..

as for the pink.. it won't be on alloys, but on steelies..

argh i can't be quiet anymore :D

..but just one pic..

..cause they're not finished..

..i mean the fronts are..

..the rears will be..

..soon..

..this weekend i hope..

:D

:p :D

and yes, it looks like the mudflaps will have to go off.. again.. permanently.. :( the wheels are too close to the wheel arches and they're eating them alive :(

Re: thund3rdom3's Snowman mk2b =)

I think if its low enough you can pull pink wheels off...

What size rims/tyres you running & how thick are the mudflaps? Maybe if you cut the mudflaps, so theres just enough to attach them to the car, rather than having them attached all the way up the arch.

Re: thund3rdom3's Snowman mk2b =)

@colinf1 - i'm currently on 175/65-14 and it will stay on for the winter.. i believe it will even be for the next winter when i stretch my steelies.. and about mudflaps, the only way to keep them is if i manace to attach them to the fender edges and cut out all the rest, and that would not look good :(

@nathan126 - noooo, they're staying this way :D the thing is, one bodyguard service here in croatia has the SAME cars, SAME black & white combo, the only difference was mine is lower and doesn't have their badge on sides, so i had to do something that would be like a poke in the eye in this rainy, pale autumn/winter days :D :D

Re: thund3rdom3's Snowman mk2b =)

Thats strange u've got rubbing on those tyres. My mudflaps are fine with steels 165/70 r14's and even with alloys 205/45 R16's - (5mm difference in diameter, 13mm bigger rolling radius)

Your wheels & tyres arent that different in terms of sidewall hieght and rolling radius to my steel wheels so I dont know why youd be getting rubbing thats destroying the mudflaps..

Re: thund3rdom3's Snowman mk2b =)

looks good but....needs to go lower at the back, if not raise it up a tad at the front just seems like the fronts lowered and the backs not.i agree with colinf1 debadg3ed grill and black lights

 You cant do that! Thats like an unspoken rule that is never to be done! Always lower, never raise it lol

that there :D

the back is at the bottom of the possible, the only thing that i've got left is remove the adapting nut, or just use the original plastic bottom of the spring,.. i've meant to try that last weekend, but ran out of time.. :(
