Re: EmDee's Short Bus

I'll let the pictures do the most of the talking.

The operating table:

bit of masking tape:

no turning back!

It looks okay, there are loads of turquoise bits in the engine bay and between the doors but those can be done next weekend. It's not a great finish but that was always the intention. Hopefully I'll get the wheels bolted on soon and I'll post more detailed pics of the paint job.

That could've been a much better pic if you included all of the Bravo parked across the road

I'm still not sure really, I wanted to put rivets along the edge of every panel too but that is going to be an arseache! I fancy making some stencils and spraying some white numbers here and there too but we'll see how long it takes me to get bored with it.

I need to sort the finishing touches to the paint job and get the wheels on then I'll be on to the headlights, the list goes on and on so it'll be a while before I'm bored hopefully!

got this today:

to replace the cracked one on the passenger side but I'll be taking them apart first and painting the insides black.

Re: EmDee's Short Bus

So i spent the weekend tidying up the ghetto paint job, getting to all the bits that I missed inside the doors, boot and engine bay. There is quite a lot of body coloured paneling inside each door so that was fun. I might get some better shots of some of it at some point but here's a crappy back door pic to illustrate what I mean:

All of the door jams are now either green or black and each door is black inside.

While I was painting the car last week I had rolled one of the wheels into place to see what I thought and wasn't too impressed:

The blue interior is much more prominent than I was hoping so last week I picked up some cans of rear light lense tinting spray and darkened them up a bit:

Actually that was before I had finished so doesn't really do them justice. They're only slightly better than they look in that pic.

So next I got a bit carried away with some stickers I had lying around - I didn't like the ones I'd put on the back window so I thought i'd put more on:

hmmm not sure about that - we'll see if that stays or not...

next I drilled the airbox like the big pikey I am:

I'm quite enjoying playing with this car I love how if I mess something up it's not the end of the world, there's no pressure.

I shall be putting a stereo in this evening, so I'd better go. Have an arty shot as a parting gesture

Re: EmDee's Short Bus

Thanks for the kind replies. I actually agree with the comment about the wheel colour, I don't like it either! That's why I've changed it 3 times and they've not even been on the car yet! In fairness they look completely different in the flesh. There is another coat of tint spray on them since I took the above pic so they basically look black unless you catch them in the sun. Once they're on the car and filthy dirty I think they'll look okay though (fingers crossed).

Got another new headlight this morning - the last one delivered had a broken clip on it (sent it back for a refund) but after looking on ebay I found a brand new one for less money! ended up costing £20 after postage for a mint headlight so I'm chuffed.

Also got some led bulbs in the sidelights and sorted out the stereo last night so I can listen to CDs and usb sticks - it's even got aux in so I can listen to ipod/mobile phones/anything with a headphone jack.

Hopefully those wheel bolts will be here soon so I can get those hoops on it

Re: EmDee's Short Bus

Nice looking Multipla (There are some words that I didn't ever think I would say in a sentence)

I think that it needs to have the shark mouth on the side, just to look a little cool. A couple of RAF roundrels too I do know of a aero-inspired '57 Chev that had approx 3000 rivets airbrushed on, the bloke reckoned that it took him (and his painter) about 500 hours of work just to do them. Maybe give them a miss

Can't wait to see more though, don't keep me on the edge of my seat for too long...

Yeah, I had a photochop in my first post in this thread but for some reason it has disappeared (I probably put it in the wrong category or something - why cant i just use Photobucket!?), but the RAF roundel did feature in it. As for the rivets, well I was actually going to use real rivets, which would probably be quicker than airbrushing them! Anyway, I'm not so sure about that now.

Actually I've had a dig around and found that chop

Shame i can't edit my first post though!

So anyway I got a call today telling me to come and pick up my stereo fascia panel jobby, right now its just sitting in there with no surrounding panel and looks a touch ghetto. So I'll get some pics of that. I should also be receiving delivery of some 20mm hubcentric spacers for the rear wheels soon (thanks to the refund for that headlight) so I thought I'd clean out my Paypal account.

All I need now is some bloody wheel bolts!
