Introduction

Hi all Some new pictures of my 2000 HGT . Ive had it since march 1st And spent Alot of money on it so far just getting it running right !!

So far ive had £415 worth of engine work done . phase sensor, variator, cam belt, and water pump
So now the engine runs as it should !!

Had new stainless exhaust fitted at longlife as the one that was on the car was rotten !

I fitted a Gsr induction kit which made a big difference .:slayer:

I took off the 17" wheels and fitted the 15" Abarth wheels with yum toyos:devil:

Over all after all the work that has been done I love it .

Future plans are

my favourite colour, pitty fiat still dont produce any of there current range models. Its one of the things i miss about my stilo - as its different!

the old cam shaft variator, yessss a common things on the old 1.8 block! Assume you have the diesel roar at start up

defiently need the suspension kit with the 15" wheels, but i prefer them (y)

enjoy, she looks smashing (y)

Nice to see all's well with it and its running sweet now :D

i would however like to make it clear, that the grande punto incident was not as the OP stated, due to driving on bald tyres in the snow, they had approx 2.5mm left on them all over at that point. and as he knows after it eating through a new tyre mega quick, the tracking was badly out (partly caused by that incident and slowing the car down by touching the kerb, i will admit) and that ate through the tyres at a huge rate.

The bump was caused by a woman in a range rover of all things deciding she couldnt risk damaging her 4x4, even though it had tons of grip, and stopped in the middle of the road after pulling out of a junction in front of me to call her husband.

with the road being slightly downhill and the grip deteriorating, it left me with 2 choices, go under a range rover, or slow the car against a kerb, which i did do, and my momentum took me into the grande and about 3mph. as soon as she pulled out infront of me and stopped for no reason, i was more or less a passenger and there was no way i could avoid a little bump.

and neither could the 3 other cars that came down the road minutes later when she left her jeep in the road, one managed to do the same i did on the other side of the road, one stuffed his scenic into a wall at about 15mph, and the other car went into the scenic that was in the wall ;)

strangely, when the police arrived, they inspected all the cars and measured their tyre tread depth, all were found to be totally legal, and the woman in the 4x4 ended up getting a severe ticking off and i believe was up for careless driving due to the incident.

so rather than making me look like a complete idiot, perhaps you should have asked for the facts of the matter rather than posting whatever the hell you like without the slightest consideration towards another member of this forum.

Does that insinuate you knew all wasn't well and it wasn't running sweet before you sold it? I.E. cutting out by itself?

i was reffering to the variator.

As far as i was aware, all problems were sorted. i had a problem the day after i got the car, it went to my local garage, they inspected it, found a small problem with the charging system, cleaned up all the contacts, fitted a new battery and i never had any problems afterwards, that was 2 months BEFORE i sold the car with zero bother. no warning lights, no cutting out, no problems at all.

Need i say more??

very selective information there. did i not say in the post that the tyres were not in that condition in the incident? the wear was caused after the incident, not good, i agree, but it was in now way contributary to how the bumper got cracked.

they were inspected at the time by the police and were totaly legal, as were the brake pads on visual inspection. i went on information from the owner before me that the pads were new and had no reason to doubt that. when it turned out they were not, i appologised and refunded you the cost of standard hgt pads as a goodwill gesture. strangely, no mention of that anywhere  or the fact with all repair costs an values you've mentioned added in, you still got the car well below bottom end book value

I can only appologise that problems showed up after you got the car, and like i say, i'm happy the car is getting treated well and has a new lease of life, it's really, really good to see :) but would rather you didn't have a personal dig at me on a forum and told a story that wasn't actually true without the facts.

pretty poor form imo (n)

Fair cop mark . In all fairness you did refund the price of the pads . Not having a dig mate if you didnt know about the problems you didnt know !
Just s**t when u get a new car and have to spend as much as the car is worth putting things right .. Guess thats life lol

Its all good now had a damn good blast yesterday after the rain and toyos stick like s**t to a blanket :p

Cant wait to take it on combe!!!!
