500 Meet Humphrey

Introduction

Hi

We picked up our 500 on Thursday, 18th Sept 2008, afternoon.
I've used to go to work a couple of times and found it does a reasonable MPG so far.

Why Humphrey?

My youngest son came into the kitchen, after having a look around the car, and exclaimed to my wife, " It's bogey colour ".

I suppose we could have gone for Fungus, but we both made the connection with Humphrey Bogart so it seems to have stuck.

I'm quite pleased with the choice of colour etc, while on the way home from work for the second time saw another ye ye going in the other direction.

The only thing I may talk to the dealer about is the difference in shade between the metal bonnet and the plastic bumper, I'll put up pictures so you can see .

So far so good .

second attempt at getting photos up , fingers crossed!

i can see what you mean in the pic. some colours do this more than others, non-metallic colours are usually the worst (especially red).

the problem is that a different type of primer is used on the plastic. you would think it doesnt really matter what's under the paint, but it makes big difference.

Hello

VERY nice color indeed. My parents had a 1,4 sport in the same color.
We got ALOTS of positive feedback on the choise
But unfortunatly it caught fire an was totaled. So instead of waiting 6 months for a
similar they went for a red 1,4 sport with the same trim level. The dealer had one in the shop ready to go...
I went for the white one, 1,4 sport...

Thumbs up..

Its been a while, heres a little bit of info on Humphry

He's done 167,700 ish miles, mainly commuting between Stanstead area and Cambridge.

He's had two rear shocks replaced, could probably do that again to be honest.
New wind screen, I'm assuming cambelt was done at 64,000 miles not done one since, no clutch replaced though.

Did 80,000 mile on his first set of rear tyres and 37,000 on the fronts.

Had a bump with a Jag recently caused some damage to front right wing, all good now though.

MPG is still good when we try, late fifties to early sixties
He's just been in for a service and needs a new aircon pump, at £891 from fiat, he's going to have to mange for now :(

Other than that and usual consumeables, pretty reliable little car.
Looking to hand him over to the kids when they get off their arse and learn to drive, will probably replace with an EV, Tesla or Jag :)
