my Xsara VTS

Introduction

So since moving into the centre of Sheffield - I've had no garage / time / money to do much with the Cinq. It's had a lot of miles racked up on it (~160 a week for ~8months), taken a lot of abuse and punishment from the shocking roads around here, survived an attempted theft.. and tbh - needs a good rest and some TLC.

I do need a car though. So with a budget of about a grand - wanting something 'comfy but not boring' - i bought this for £930.

2002 Phase 2 VTS, 52k, recent belt service, auto lights / wipers, aircon, 2.0 16v, 170bhp - a 306 GTI6 underneath.

What do you think? :)
Lot of car for the money indeed. I was looking for a car for my younger stepdaughter a while back and was struck by what good value the Xsaras were, the VTR in particular. Not as quick as yours but still a good little car.

Yours looks in really good nick. Well done (y)

Cheers,

Aye, it is in good condition - only a tiny tear in the drivers side bolster.

needs lowered

hehehe, i know - it really does. But i'm not sure this car will get modified at all. It's never going to be as nippy as the cinq and I think it might get costly to even try.

Supprisingly it's probably the only Citroen I like. That Gold colour is awesome BTW!

I love the colour. imo the VTS looks better in this colour than more plain / flat colours :D

The 170Bhp must be a lot of fun. It looks immaculate. It is a lot of car for £930 I can't help but feel second hand cars are too cheap to buy these days.

I would much rather have the 306 look's, that cars look's just does not appeal to me. The rally ones look great though :) I saw an unkept one today actually in the same colour.

How have you enjoyed the car so far then?

a 306 GTI6 of similar age / spec / condition would've cost a considerable amount more cash. Remember I set out to by a "not boring car for around a grand" - not specifically something gti6 based :)

I've not had chance to drive it on fun roads much yet. Done a lot of motorway miles, where it is def stronger than the Cinquecento is. Not as quick off the line tho feels much less stressed, and it is a joy having air-con :D

I live very close to snake pass and am very much looking forward to the next time i have to drive over that way.

Congratulations on the purchase. I used to own a series 2 Xsara VTS in exactly the same colour. To this day I still miss that car. It was a great car to drive on twisty country roads.
