New project - non fiat

My mate is just finishing building one of those, been helping him with it, not a bad kit. His has a Civic Type-R engine thats putting out about 225bhp, it should be quick once its on the road!!

Yeah they are one of the better kit car options, should be bloody quick anyway.... even the 1.6s are supposed to be good for < 5.5 secs 0-60!
I contemplated one of those mad civic engines - the jdm type R one with 225 bhp, but the cars all designed around the k series so id be making a lot of work for myself plus those type R engines are bloody expensive compared. Its not all about power but it helps :p

180bhp and a close ratio box will do nicely i think in a 750kg car!

Have to show us some pics of your friends GTM!!

Its a UK spec Type R engine that he has had tuned and has a 'For Race Use Only' ECU. It has been a pain modding the kit for the Type R engine but all is done now.

Ill get some pics next time I see him/the car.

When did your mate purchase the kit? As far as I know they dont even make new ones anymore, parts arent all that easy to get from the factory now either as GTM have been bought out by Westfield.

He brought it about 2 years ago. Long before Westfield brought GTM. Parts aren't that easy to get hold of but seeing as he lives 2 mins from the Westfield factory chashing parts isnt too difficult as they are much more helpful when you go there in person!!

I can guess thatd be more effective!
The guy ive been getting bits off at westfield is Simon Naughton, if your mates stuggling to get anything hes pretty useful. He knows about the cars, a lot of the parts people dont.
Got a load more bits to start putting to use this week, need to bush up my new rear wishbones and get it sat back on its wheels :)

Not posted for ages, heres the progress, bar a bit of wiring, paint and new carpets its pretty much done.

Bits and bobs tidied up and full new carpets and new steering wheel, speakers etc. Putting my cd player in this weekend, sadly due to an ECU fault it didnt get to go in for paint. They didnt want to be pushing it around so wouldnt take it.... should have ECU issues sorted this weekend and then off for paint.

Looking good man (y)

How you getting on with it, did the ECU guy come through for you in the end?

Thanks:yum:

Ended up fitting another ECU and did a bit of re wiring myself!
Quite satisfying finding the problem yourself even though it took a while! The ECU was duff but also on crank the ignition live was switching to 0V. Sorted that and fired first time!

Progress has been a bit slow as the paint shop are just doing bits on it when they get time, Still the doors and front to do...but it's getting there!:)
