fiat labour rates

wow mines cheap, £56-57 depending on what time of the day they think it is +_ VAT

basically your paying all that extra to cover their ass's when THEY break stuff on your car and need to repair it before you notice, or they don't bother repairing it, and expect you to swallow it as general 'wear and tear'(n)

just learned today that our local ford dealership are badly pronounced bankers too:(

No thats built into the yearly budget.

£45 up here with 10% for good customers;)

I think that is pretty cheap, where are you based. What most people don't realise is that it may sound a lot at £45 for one mechanic, but you have to pay for equipment, the building, the other staff at reception, account staff, insurances, rates etc etc out the same amount.

Stornoway.

Depends on area aswell I guess, some rates in London hit £100 (not Fiat!) per hour, which is unfair to be honest.Perhaps the view is if you can afford a house in London you can afford high rates?

Try £110 an hour  , but like you say not Fiat - my last place (Fiat) charged £70 an hour.

I wouldn't say 'more than accountants, partners at my old place were charged out at more than that, back in 2000 as well.

Makes me feel cheap - my rate is only £68 currently :( used to be £80 back in the days, lol.

you have to remember that the actual trained mechanic is getting less than £10 an hour, defo, and he probably had to pay for his own 'training' LOL, not from personal experiance of course:( (n)

equipment of lack of it does cost a fair bit, as does affiliation with the MOT crowd

2 dealers near me: One is 20 miles away, charges £60+VAT (maybe £65+VAT now), other is 10 miles away and charges £45+VAT with 10% off as I'm a regular (so T14086's rate). Amazing what 10 miles difference can make!

Oh Stu, my sister's an accountant, trainee I think, she's charged out at £40 per hour at the moment . . . got a bit of a way to go!

That sounds quite dear for a trainee [well, based on what we charge here] - she must work for a larger firm, with more partners and office overheads. That is why my rate dropped so much when I moved practices.

Knew it wouldn't take him long to take the bait;)

You set it up for me and it was too good to miss.

I met with our accountant today for an 1.5 hours and he didn't charge me. Also gave me some great advice on saving some money.
