Just need a bit of advice here, basically i got no reminder, and whilst working on friday realised my tax was up that day, but couldn't get it renewed until saturday (1st), which I did, but will this be ok, as technically i was driving the car on sat with no tax? (the new tax is dated the last day of sep nxt yr)

my tax was up on fir and got new tax on sat

n e said it wil run out on the 30 09 06 so im my eyes i paid fir it even tho it wasnt on the car for 9 hrs i.e from 12 midnight til 9.30 in morn (y)
 
Don't worry about it, they don't care as long as you buy the tax within a few days.

You can buy it online now as well if you have a new style MOT. We did ours a few days ago and the insurance is checked on a database automatically. As the car was under 3 years we didn't need an MOT.
 
We were going to use online for the Ulysse, BUT I was 18 days late buying it :eek:, so decided to pop to local Post Office instead - it still takes a few days to come through the post if use online, so technically car is not taxed during this time, even though paid for...
 
My loca post office, have always been funny with road tax, they wont do it back dated to start of the month, and insist as its past the date I can only tax it till the end of the month.

Ive had great problems using mine, The reg was wrong on Cert of insurance ( 2 nunmbers wrong way ) and they refused to accpet it, even tho It was right on V5 and the MOT.

Had to wait till Insurance sent me out a cover note. and then then only taxed if from end of that month.

Bastards.

That's wierd, normally they are more than happy to charge you for 6 months even if you're only taxing for 5 months 2 days.

I wouldn't call the Post Office bad words, they legally can't issue you a disc if the insurance cert isn't correct. It really isn't their fault as that cert isn't valid for your car.
 
Thats why mine says ive got to wait till end the month.


I would not mind if rules were rules, its when they aint consistant,
