Hi guys ,

This is my first thread so take it easy on me . Ok my car is a fiat punto active 1.2 2003 8v . My problem is when I'm in certain gears my car feels like it has no power and the revs are actually higher than the speed im driving at . I seem to struggle to go over 60 . This does not always happen only now and again say 2/6 drives . From what I have read it could be the clutch or coils . If anyone can help I would much appreciated it . Thanks in advance Michael

Hey Welcome to the forum!

I dont mean to be harsh but try asking people in the Punto Section :) (go to the main page and scroll down till you see it)

Hope you find the answer to your problem
Cheers
Tom

HI,well if you are driving and the rev speed of the engine increases but the car doesnt accelerate, itcan only mean one thing, the clutch is slipping.
Most cluthes with normal wear last around 80,000 miles, but if used rough can go before 50k.
Youshould get your clutch renewed straight away,it will get worse and eventually go completely, leaving you on the side of the road.

Either clutch is Starting to slip due to age/wear

or the Clutch is slipping due to the Input bearing/seal have let go
So when it gets warm oil is blowing out onto the clutch making it slip

A certain amount will rub off, but it'll fowl the clutch and it'll slip again and again till replaced

So while the clutch is out - get the shaft check for play
Any play = Needs new bearing and seal

If you dont do it now - the new clutch will just be fowled in a matter of time

So then YET AGAIN you will need a New clutch and then the repairs this time
