Hi,

Sorry to post this for a second time (already posted it in the Idea forum but not got any responses) so thought it might get noticed more here.

I've just bought a 1.3 JTD 70 Bhp Model and want to get some more power out of it. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on which way you look at it :D I live in the South of France near Beziers, so unless I can get it tuned locally which looks unlikely, I will have to go down the DIY route. Can anyone recommended a sutiable DIY tuning kit?

Thanks - Simon.

an ecu remap will get you peak gains of approx 35bhp and 45lb/ft for £350. thats a huge difference, and it also helps with the 1.3's turbo lag. i understand the 1.3 remap is more difficult and/or time consuming than usual, so i am not sure if you would be able to post your ecu to a company like angeltune and then arrange to have it posted back afterwards.

an alternative would be a tuning box, these increase the fuel pressure, so you get a worthwhile gain, but not as much as a remap. a tuning box is much cheaper than a remap and can be DIY fitted very easily, in your situation it may be the only option.

as with any turbo engine, one method of tuning is to lower exhaust back pressure. i'm sure you could find a local exhaust supplier who make and fit custom exhausts. remove restrictive parts of the exhaust and use a slightly wider pipe.

also fit a good induction kit and give it a cold air supply.

Thanks for the reply. I would definetely go for the re-map if it was available locally, but that looks unlikely, so a tuning 'box' looks like the only option available to me. Does anyone make direct replacement sports panel filters for the 1.3 JTD such as Pipercross, JR, K&N etc.,

Thanks - Simon.

i've never seen a replacement panel filter, i would fit a cone induction kit instead, universal kits are easy to install on pretty much any car.

Seems Angel Tuning are coming to Pau (just over 3 hours from here) in June, so I may well be paying them a visit! Thanks for your help!

Simon.

I've bought a plug in tuning module for now. The instructions that came with it are for a Mercedes

Could someone please let me know exactly where you plug this thing in, before I start pulling the car to bits to find it!

Thanks - Simon.

it depends on the type you bought.

soem go between ecu and ecu connector, some between fuelrail sensor and its connector, there are several types. where do the instructions say it should be fitted?

Thanks and I know I'm being a muppet, but where is the plug on the fuel rail sensor located exactly? Do you need to remove anything first to access the plug on the fuel rail sensor? A picture would be really useful if you have one.

Thanks again
Simon.
