Had my Punto JTD remapped by Angel Tuning today, all I can say is Angel Tuning rock. Let me start off by saying anyone who has a JTD and hasn’t had it remapped are crazy, it completely transforms the car for the better, improved performance and economy.

Nige turned up on time exactly when he said he would and got to work on starting to remap my JTD. He began by starting my engine and revving it a bit to see if he could identify any problems straight away, everything was fine.

He then ran a diagnostic on my car to see if there are any errors stored on the ECU and then took it out for a quick test drive to see if he could find any problems with it.

He said the car was fine and then got to work on the actual remap. First of all he downloaded the old map off of the ECU via the diagnostics port just in case anything went wrong, this only took a few minutes. Once he had done that he flashed the performance map onto the cars ECU, again via the diagnostics port.

He then told me to take the car for a spin and OMG, what a difference! It now pulls like a train in all gears, revving smoothly all the way up to the limiter. :D 2nd gear is definitely my favourite though. :slayer:

Overall I would highly recommend Angel Tuning for anyone looking to get their car remapped; I’m not sure what power it’s running as I haven’t had it on a rolling road but I would estimate it is running approximately 125bhp and 200lbft of torque, it definitely feels like it is anyway.

Was it originally the 85 or 100 HP version? And what did this improvement cost you?

What bhp did you start from? 115bhp 8v JTD? Is that a quotes 150bhp or has that been proven via a rolling road. I'm a bit sceptical about bhp claims without hard evidence. Thinking about this myself, along with some other performance mods.

Re: Angel Tuning Review – Two Thumbs Up

105 BHP JTD to start with, the map done on mine was a set map with RR results tried and tested on a few other 1.9JTD's,and i have that on very good athourity.

But it will be going on the RR aswell i like to have recipt's for everything.;)

Does it smoke anymore? Any problems with clutch slip?

Re: Angel Tuning Review – Two Thumbs Up

I havent noticed any diffrence in smoke.from my rear view mirror;) .

Im not running the standerd clutch, and put a new fly wheel in DUALMASS joby at the same time as the new clutch in preparation to the remap;) .

But to answer the question no,no sliping yet at 150bhp there is a slight judder under certain situations buy thats all and thats very easy to drive around without loosing any GO!!,hence another 7/8 hp being added on,and then some more testting, the clutch is the biggest problem when it comes to they kind of BHPfigures when tunning a JTD,as you proberbly already know.

It was originally the 85bhp version and the remap cost me £250. :)

I haven't noticed any clutch slip or judder yet, but my clutch only has 39,000 miles on it at the moment. I am sure it will start to slip at some point in the future though unless I uprate it.

Has anyone found any uprated clutches that will fit the Punto 1.9 JTD yet? I heard the clutch/flywheel from either the new Grande Punto or Bravo might fit?

Re: Angel Tuning Review – Two Thumbs Up

I have to be honest that im finding it difficult to believe these figures. For a couple of reasons. However, if the scottish guy is willing, i'd love a passenger ride. Or a visit with to the rr. :D

If the power had been increased that much the clutch would be wanting to let go. It wasnt designed for that increase in power.

If his EGR valve was buggered then he had no chance lol
:yeahthat:

I'm sure my EGR valve is causing me a loss of power, when I had the diagnostics done there was an EGR valve error logged, got it cleared off and it came back.

I'll probably replace the EGR valve next week when I get my cambelt changed. :)

Do you have the problem where it has absolutely no power off boost? As in plant your foot in 2nd at just over 1000rpm and it takes about 10 seconds (literally) to hit 2000rpm?
