As title, I don't know if I've put this in the right section or not (IF NOT CAN SOMEONE MOVE IT FOR ME :)

Basically I'm after just one old style black and silver plate for my bravo to replace the back plate at shows :)
Anyone know where I can find an online shop to buy from (not ebay as its banned at my current workplace :( ) preferbly with a platebuilder so I can see what it looks like before I buy?
Looking for acrylic plates as I guess pressed ally plates will cost a small fortune!

Cheers

Dan

Can these plates not be used for everyday use though?

The reflectives were trendy when they were made legal in about 1971. I did put a set on the B as they are a safety aid, but became a fashion victim and went back to silver on black in 1995. I just got mine mail order, including the black plastic bolts, but now you have to prove you own the car to slow down criminals getting false plates made for getaway cars. When I got mine the pressed alloy were the cheapest and then there were 2 flavours of plastic, one where all the grooves went east west, and for slightly more you got one where the grooves follow the shape of the character which looks nicer. A quick skim of some classic mags here produced no ads for plates prolly due to the tighter law but if you get stuck let me know.

Not unless car was built before 1973 I believe, my Beetle used to have them and was legal but that was a '71 model.

That's correct. Only cars registered before 1st January 1973 are allowed to use black and silver number plates on the road. Cars registered after that date using such plates can be stopped and fined by the Police for failing to comply to number plate legal requirements.

Using them at shows is of course not a problem as long as those take place on private property.
