Quick question about police and bacon!

reading back through this thread, there's something here that astounds me, a moral majority who scream for the authorities to stamp on loutish, anti-social behaviour and "drive the chavs from our streets", but only on their terms, oh no "dont for heavens sake think any of that legislation will apply to me!".

time and again there are threads asking where are police for smashed windows, stolen cars, aggresive behaviour, and when something, anything is done, chuck a brick in anyway.

at least there a certain honesty about a drunken lout with no agenda other than being an arse on a saturday night, it's you, the nimby, the one who wants to decide that the rules for all don't apply to you, who decides at what level you should be part of thelegislation that binds us all, and that squeals like a baby when you find yourself in a situation of your making, that makes me sick, because like it or not, it's your whining voice in the ear of an MP or the mail, that ensures whatever hope society has in trying to sort out the scourge of our streets, it's power is diluted to nothingness, so that you don't fall within its remit

you're the slag, you're whats eating away at the rotton core,

both are the same, ignorant & brainwashed. at the other end of the spectrum you have people who love everyone and think we should all live in love and happyness together, an idea far from reality. that is equally unrealistic.

you need both ends of the spectrum and everything inbetween. as long as the majority fall in the middle things will balance out. if we get into a situation where the extreme outnumber average joe, there will be problems, but in society almost everything follows a normal distribution so hopefully balance will continue.

it seems the haters outnumber the lovers these days, but thankfully the average person is still neither.

similarly there is still balance between those who think total freedom and liberty should be priority, and those who think control and authority should take preference. i think the majority of us still believe the right balance is always the best option. that balance is maintained by the majority of us who sit in the middle.
The human right that exists and was breached in the case that started this is that of peaceful protest, if in his opinion a breach of the peace is imminent the Chief Constable may decide to stop the protest. I think this is reasonable, however there is always pressure for more power from the police often when they have plenty already and just need some better managment and less political interference to do a good job.
