well this is the problem.the drive,gate and a section of garden is to the side of the house in a big blindspot.cant see a thing even whether the security light comes on,so unlikely i would have heard them.
this does 4 cameras so thinking

• 1 to the rear of the house
• 1 to the front door/garden area or perhaps just front window
• 2 to the side of the house..................
• 1 near the front covering the car
• 1 pointing forwards from the rear corner covering the side gate area

Thats 6 cameras though but best to cover as much area as you can.

no the last 2 are where the "2 to the side of the house" would be

just get a trip wire attached to a firing mechanism with a blank shotgun cartridge aimed into a large pot... scare the living **** out of the little f***s... :devil:

Not much help custard this but the one we have was from ebay, and was about 50 quid came with all software

try carboot sales, i got 2 monitors (can just plug into TV) with 2 cameras and all leads/adaptors and in colour! for £7. didn't think it would work but i hit lucky i think give it a go!

something that switchs and records the camera that is detecting motion.

forgot what they are really called but are very usefull as they only record whats happening and not hours of your tree blowing around in the wind.
get something infrared aswell and your laughing.

and if you do ever catch someone round there whilst you are in the house, and you see them on cam, quietly ring the police, then as you hear them coming (even if you ask them to keep the siren off so they stand some chance of catching them, they put it on to scare them off so its less paperwork for them) run round and corner the feckers.

OR just corner them earlier and withstrain them in some manor.
any sort of pain inflicted on them, and you'll get arrested and they'll get sent on their way while you get dragged to the station, they will return 30minutes later steal your car and burn your house down.

problem here is the scum whistle to warn of police coming in,theres only one road in.
really dont mind it recording dead time as its only HD space really.the box i mentioned has motion sensing in the spec but i assumed it was something in the camera? or does the software 'see' it?

I thought you could get a shop type system that records to cd's or HD etc.
our spar had one fitted, the box was abou £180 (to record to a bank of HD's and a cd writer) and the camera's cost as much as you like.
was fitted by a local security company, and it would record all cam's (think there was 8 channels with sound) to the HD at the same time so you don't miss anything

so motion sensing is via software and no PIR required.
PC card allows them to be hooked ot the PC and quad viewscreen.
only got 2 cameras for now to test plus were a bit short of cash for now.
seemingly 2 months recording on 1 camera takes 20GB HD space so no worries on that front
waiting till they arrive to order my wiring etc for installation till i see whats what

well that covers the side plus i want to see how they perform.may get a different stealth one for the front of the house as we have a little roof type afair over the door so can tuck on away.
one more on the rear can cover the whole back garden

i made my own trigger system with one of those lazer pointers and an LDR... worked a treat. second someone walked past ldr resistance goes skyhigh, and the camera system started up.
easy peasy. runs until it gets broken again, or reset.

well i shall see how it works on the software side.TBH for the space required i could just have it 24/7 recording and purge every week or so for now.

if i was you custard, i would just wait until you see them on the camera's then go out and give them the worst T***ING ever, and make sure you break some bones. they wont even dare go to police cause they will just be grassing themselves in.

you'll ring the police and 3hrs later they'll turn up to get a S**TY statement and you'll here nothing more off them.

to be fair we have a local police station and regular drive pasts but not much they can do if there not there.
of course custard will be watching
just looking for wiring hardware now,trying ot find a waterproof cable box to split one power cable to 4 but most ive seen have built in switches which i dont need/prefer not to have.
was looking at external waterproof sockets but the cameras power supplys have chunky plugs so probably will not fit under the waterproof covers.
other option is a basic 4 plug extension cable inside a sealed box painted white to match the exterior
