Just went out to my car this morning to find the passenger door slightly adjar with the B pillar on the door bent inwards and the CD player taken. :(

Luckily there isnt any exterior damage to the car, no broken windows etc and ive bent back the B pilar and the door closes fine again now but the paint is cracked on the inside :(

What i think they have done is pull the b pilar out (hence the cracking of the paint all the way up the inside of the door) put there hand through and opened the lock (common way to break into fiats, i had a guy once suggest it to me after ide locked myself out of my uno) and then just taken it without any problems, bent the pilar back and legged it. Car doesnt have an alarm so they wernt disturbed (n)

Ah well, I wont claim on my insurance for it though as Ill loose my chance of a no claims this year... It really needs a new door now as the bottom of the pilar is dented but it does still close ok so ital do for now.

Just a bit pissed off  ****ing chav *****

you left your cd front in your car?

live and learn i suppose, some git smashed my stilo window twice quite recently, and on my clio someone grabbed the top of the door and peeled it back like a sardine tin.

comiserations mate...

Unlucky bro, but thats what face offs are for... to be taken off.

MY mate was unlucky enough to be have been ready go out, unlocked his car then called back. Someone walked past his car, causually opened the passenger door, removed his expensive Pioneer Head Unit and left.

Culprits were caught on camera as the girls house he was at has full sucurity cams set up, they were scouting the road for empty houses they believe but came accross an empty VW first.

He hadn't configured the car autolock if left unopened and the alarm never re-armed itself.

i see alot of people leaving the fronts of there HU's in place in college. i keep telling my mate to take his out but he never does, and they all just laugh at me carrying mine around college with me!

guess who will be laughing when they have a smashed window and no radio!

Doesn't stop theives. They will still steal the stereo, even without the face. Speaking from experience :(

taking your face of the h/u dont always work, cus they'll just go looking in ur car for it but is better than nothing, i always take mine off but rather than carry in into work or the pub, i used to put it in the glove comparment, once someone broke in and left my xmas shopping on the back seat and my snap off momo wheel on the seat and took the h/u and the face which they looked for but they didnt bent the door post, they put a screw driver into my lock and bent it out leaving a hole just to flick the inside of the lock open never realised how simple and unaffective fiat locks can be.

Wasn't bothered about the h/u it was the big massive hole in my door that p***ed me off.

Deep, but at least if you took the face of you can't kick yourself into depression and regret and eventually kill yourself.

A Face on is a "That'll get me at Least £50 for some crack :yum:"

A Face off is a "What if its a cack stereo anyway? is it worth it? hmmmm, what if it don't work without its face? could I still sell it? would the person I sold it to come looking for me if it don't work?... bah can't be bothered"

With a few exceptions to the not being bothered in your case.

it would make a difference, without a face on, really all you can see on most headunit's is black panel, and you cant even see what stereo it is or if its a cassette even, with face on you can see what it is and also at night too, at night without a face on it would look like a black standard cassette.

you dont get 50 ;) for anything really, well round my way, going rate on an alpine flip thing that are 300+ in halfords is about 20, they want a quick sale as possible- (and who do they come to first? ME!)

This is why I love my blaupunkt, take the Face off with you (which I always do) and if someone nicks the HU within 2 years of purchase they will give you another (y)

Ah but we have 'London Waiting' so things cost more and can be sold for more etc etc :p

At least £30 anyhows but £50 would be an average on a decent head unit with face and loom intact :D

Do they? I just know blaupunkt did because I liked it and looked into their policys and didn't really like much else for similar money bar the alpines and a pioneer.
