im getting really fed up:mad:

it seems like everyone is getting their broadband upgraded for free, as technology moves on!

and yet im still stuck on 512Kbps

so, can i ask, how many of you have been upgraded (for free, or a small charge)

and is there anyone who can help me write an angry letter if things look like im due an upgrade? :D

BLOODY WANADOO  more like wanadon't :p

well, id like to try the angry approach first, as they must want to keep my custom, and if all other providers are doing it...........

yes,iam on wanadoo, and all new customers get the latest upgrades.current customers have to pay(n) my twelve months is due in dec,and iam changing companies.who has changed? was it straight forward and was it a plug out and plug in or do you have to wait for them to set your new modem?:)

well, id assume youd just change the thing the modem connects to

new username and password

unless you change to a differnt way of connection, like form ADSL to cable or something

very strange that considering the NTL/telewest merger type thing that NTL seems to be so far behind.

I read somewhere that NTL and Telewest have the cabalities to have stupid speeds 20mb+, dunno how true that is, but if it is id like to be upgrade to 20mb please :D

I think the only real limit for cable BB infrastructure is download capacity, the higher they give on speeds, the higher the level of downloaded data. This is AFAIK what pushes the systems rather than the speeds. ADSL is different on that issue however.

I was on Dial-up then 512k then 1mb then 2mb now as far as I'm aware 4mb

Not that I have noticed much difference to be honest, but then again the last time i played a game online was ages ago.

Most downloads from servers are restricted anway so it doens't matter how fast your Broadband is.

I'm still on 512k too Serin and BT can't yet give me an update as to when they are going to upgrade the exchange to move to anything higher! I don't think it's Wanadoo, it's BT not upgrading the exchanges, so Pipex tell me anyway, because every other person I know with Pipex has been upgraded. And now stupid stupid stupid BT are talking about trialling super-fast BB when they can't even get normal speed right

Im getting upgraded as part of Nildrams initial testing to 22mb downlink. I think its quite pathetic really the upload is only 768k!. If your downloading at full capacity your going to use all your uplink bandwidth sustaining your downloads!

Your not gonna be sending a whole lot of data to the servers saying that you still want to download the item. Its just small packets saying "keep it coming" hardly alot to send to them.

Im with BT (n)
I was on 56k, upgraded to 512, now im on 2mb.
Since they introduced 2mb they included transfer limits. I can send/receive 20GB a month:mad: thats nothing.

im on telewest blueyonder started on 2 meg now 10 meg free upgrade and im moving house soon and i will have to go back to 2meg no no no no   (n)
