Well didnt we do well a fantastic total of 18pts and finished 22nd out of 24!

Only France and Germany were worse off!!

Greece won it by a county mile with 230pts Malta 2nd with 192pts and Romania 3rd with 158pts!

The countries that scored us were

Ireland -8pts
Cyprus - 5pts
Malta - 4pts
Turkey -1pt

Anyone notice Wogans jealousy over all the other countries gettin votes especially amongst all the balkan countries!!

He's always like that - and he's right, it's a popularity contest not a song contest. As usual we did badly by putting another poor show on. The song was very unoriginal and sounded much the same as everyone else, I wouldn't have given us points either.

I thought the winners were rubbish too - there were a few much better and ours was crap. You'd think they'd get the hang of the sort of thing you need to win, but they don't. You need a sort of Abba style song.

I think Wogan is hillarious - my favorite comment was "unfortunately Latvia have been unable to produce any attractive girls"!

the whole thing is a political popularity contest. there was definitely a trend towards neighbouring countries voting for each other if you ask me.
malta gave 6 points to cyprus, 10 to uk.
cyprus gave 12 to malta, 3 to uk.
uk gave 5 to cyprus, 4 to malta.

Hmm, the war on Iraq has made us the hated people in Europe, however, the French have ALWAYS been the most hated really so not a huge surprise, plus their music is usually awful.

I tell you what really makes it all funny is the way that almost every song bar the French is in English. I was watching with subtitles (due to foreign housemates) and even the ones that sounded foreign were actually in english.

Also with 888 you realise just how rubbish the lyrics are they're all terrible.

The voting is nothing to do with Iraq (like I said Germany and France prove this) it's just a) how cheesy the song is b) how long the girl's legs are c) how pink the gayboy's outfit is and d) who you're neighbours are. With more and more Balkans and Soviet Bloc countries we're less and less likely to win.

We used to win a lot because we had more professionally done songs whereas now they're all the same. I don't think it helps going first either because everyone forgets about it long before the vote.

Having said all that clearly it's not all fixed before the start because to be fair a different country wins each year.

I had interactive "red" button on and every lyric seemed to be about fire...I did watch mainly with the sound off (Wogan...) and only the first half of the singers, when Patriot Games came on

I do firmly believe it has a lot to do with Iraq since we are now very much disliked in Europe because of it and our terrible scores have come mainly since then. A nil point was unheard of before then wasn't it for us? The fact that France did **** is because they have always been hated, Iraq opposing or otherwise and Germany doesn't have particularly mainly friends, on top of that, Germans can't sing English so it always sounds rough.
