RIP such a shame.

From what the chatter is on teh armed forces sites my OH says it seems like he ejected quite late and parachute didn't have a chance to open :-(

That's awful :(

Was meant to be seeingthem at Chatsworth House in a couple of weeks, but I doubt that'll be happening now.
Tbh, I could have sworn I saw two of them practicing near where I live (not far from Chatsworth). There were two red jets flying very close to each other performing various rolls and loops, and plenty of white smoke trails. Me and my little lad were watching them for a good 20 minutes, and even with only two of them, it was pretty amazing.
Maybe nothing to do with the Red Arrows, but I was so convinced :confused:

According to the BBC they are grounded until an investigation has been carried out. Just hope they don't use this as an excuse to ground them permanently.
Just reading the BBC and it seems that all 170 Hawk T1's have been grounded not just the arrows.

A bit more regarding the incident;
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukn...ed-Arrows-pilot-blacked-out-before-crash.html

This one says another plane was hit by a bird days before this crash;

As i said on my repost,

the bloke is a hero, he could have ejected and saved his live and let his plane crash,

but he stayed in control of his Hawk T1 to the last minute trying to save the lives of the innocent below..

RIP Flt Lt John Egging

It is sad, mymum lives at RAF Scampton so I have grown up with them. My Stepdads also a fireman at Scampton.

Well, the Red Arrows flew at Chatsworth today, and they were nothing short of awesome :slayer:

They decided to fly the same formations as usual, but obviously with only 8 planes. The gap and lack of symmetry in each formation was a deliberate and poignant reminder of the death of Red 4.
The display was as emotional as it was amazing. I'm so glad I was there today :)

I work quite closely with the Reds and this is all i heard about for weeks last year. Sad loss of a Brilliant pilot and a sound bloke.
Thankfully apart from the Incident at Scampton a while back, no more incidents.
