ok iv sort of lost interest in sellin my 15" kicker. iv just gone and put it in my sei SX 899cc and it kick ass

am i the only person to be stupid enuf to do this i wuna kno sum1 else who has put a 15" sub in their sei sx 899cc.

the whole car is soo small its own volume acts as a bandpass box, as when the doors of the car are open the bass goes even deeper.

the gain on my amp isnt even turned halfway up and it is deafening!!!!!!

That subs only 250w RMS, cant be that loud. How much were you selling it for because its on offer in Halfrauds for £140 with a box and kicker grill.

u r mistake my friend

my kicker comp vr has an rms of 500w @ 2 ohms an as that is the load it is putting on the amp, i think ull find it has the rms potential of my stated amount.

i think ull find that it is 'that' loud. lets be honest who is going to kno.sum guy over a forum who poopoo's everything which is sed because he thinks he is better, or the person with the sub in his boot, actually playing it as im typing.

u cannot find a compe VR brand new for 140 anywhere espesh not halfords, unless u can checkilly get list prices'

I must be mistaken then as I was looking at a sub in Halfrauds y'day, the tag on the shelf said 15" Kicker Comp VR then said 250w RMS or 500w max, it didnt say how many ohms. It had a box and those grills that Kickers have and it was on sale for £140. Im just telling you that Halfrauds are selling them and going by what it says on the tag for the RMS value.

If yours is a different model, maybe Halfrauds made a mistake by saying 250w RMS or they made a mistake by saying it was a Comp VR when it wasnt. It was definitly a 15".

500w RMS is 'that'loud but 250w RMS isnt, as per my previous thought that the Comp VR was on sale in halfrauds.

I dont poo poo what other people say and I certainly dont know everything, but I do know a little bit and Im not scared to challenge other people and what they say if I think I can offer a different perspective. I would certainly challenge somebody who trys to sell a sub for £160 on a forum, when its on sale in (of all places!) Halfrauds for less, advertised as a Comp VR. I may be mistaken, it could have been a Comp, they just messed up on the tag. If they did, I'll be the first to apologise if I caused you offence.

But anyway, good luck with the 15". Hope you have many miles of back massages!

Sando, I was interested so had a quick look.

The "comp vr" comes in many resistance ratings, 2, 4 or 8 ohms. The 2 ohms apparently does give out 500/100 where as the 4 only gives out 250/500 (i.e. RMS/Max). This is where the confusion is.

Despite having same name, being same size etc. they have different powers, that's stupid!

I apologise then 'real iceman' as I appear to have been incorrect as you have the 2 ohm version. The 4 ohm version must have been for dsale in halfrauds for £140.

You need to ensure that the amps resitence matches the amps. Theres a good thing on: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard/ This will help you out.

Yes, the amp must be able to drive an impedence equal to the speaker it is driving- rg: If the speaker is 4ohm, the amp must be 4ohm)

'The real iceman' I don't suppose you have any photos of ur MASSIVE 15" sub install?

I wouldn't mind seeing how you managed to shoe-horn it into the boot of ya Sei.

Hope to see some pictures soon.

Brian

Ask any racer, any real racer, it don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning's winning!

Ok presuming the sub is a SVC 4 ohm the amp will be runnning at 4 ohms which will equal 200w. Which will be this: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard/index.asp?WoofQty=1+woofer&WoofImp=Single+Voice+Coil+-+4+ohms&image.x=10&image.y=11

Because your amp is 2 ohm stable (meaning it will run 2 ohm safely) you could buy another JBL GT3 and have it running like this: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard/index.asp?WoofQty=2+woofers&WoofImp=Single+Voice+Coil+-+4+ohms&image.x=11&image.y=14 and will give your subs 175w each.

Vaseline maybe:D

Before u start, I'm not doubting you, I would really like to see, cause my 10" takes up half a boot. Thats even before the 3 amps in there so my boot is very full indeed

SANDO - thanks for that I think I will stick with my 1 10", although good things do come in pairs:D

All i need now is a nice install to top it off

My 12 fills the boot but I reckon you could fit something like 4 12's or even 4 x 15's in a Cinq boot but you would need a very cleverly deasigned box! Source Sounds in Sheffield had a challenge once when someone said that you couldnt fit many 12's in a Golf's boot and keep the back seats.... they fitted 8 12's in the boot.... with all the amps and wiring... and kept the back seats.

Iceman, I would like to see the boot with the 15 in, can you have the parcel shelf in or do you have to take it out? How big is the box in cu.ft?
