Ok, in the golf we have so far;

Sony cdx3300 HU with one set of phonos,
87mm mac audio co-axial in the dash,
6"x4" mac audio co-axials in the shelf supports,
Sony 2 way 6x9's in the shelf (be quiet guys I don't like them either but em does,)
12" mutant sub in a sealed enclosure,
300watt max boss audio amp running the sub.

I got given a fairly old jenson A1000 the other day. All I can find out is that it's 100wattx2 (dunno if thats max or rms, the amp doesn't say but by the looks of the + lead coming out of it, it should be max.) it's bridgeable and is a mosfet amp. It doesn't have a crossover. I do have a couple of treble blockers though.

So, what should we amp up, and how? At the moment, the fronts crackle if we turn the hu up too far, so I don't know if the amp would help or make this worse? Also, as the hu only has a rear/sub out it's currently set to "sub." Obviously I'll need a phono splitter, but I don't want to be sending a sub signal to the fronts (if I amp those,), and if I set the output to "rear" and want to be able to hear the sub then the rear fill is way too big.

Would I be sensible to swap the speaker locations, and have the sub and fronts on the rear output, and the rear speakers on the front output? That way i will have a bit more control.

Or should I just amp the 6x9's off the "sub" output and have them running the mid bass. I suppose I could then leave the hu running just the smaller speakers?

???????????????????????????

I'd amp the fronts out of your choices - just be careful at first with the gain :)

I really don't think they can handle the power! Plus, it's gonna be a major hassle to balance the sound. Thinking we might just leave it out, as It'll prob make it all sound worse.
