Hi,

I have a totally virgin Cinq Sporting and would like to upgrade the ICE system. I only want to put in a new head unit (the Pioneer DEH-P77MP) and get some better speakers for the dash.

Please can anyone advise me on what I need in the way of adaptors for the head unit, if any, and which speakers would work well? I'm new to this ICE stuff so is there anything else I need?

Thanks!

dead easy all you need is an 'ISO adapter' at about £10 to fit the head unit and all that it does is plug in between the cars radio plug and the pioneer plug,as for speakers any good brand of 10cm(i think) will fit in the standard front position and if you are going to fit rears(custard prepares for the onslaught;)) i personally have fitted a pair of 6x9's in my rear shelf although other members prefer a different set up.it all depends what you're looking to do/spend.some of the ice guys can give you some practical tips etc

I'd stick with a simple system. If cash is short, prolly just stick a set of co-axials in the dash and get a pair of 6x9's for the parcel shelf (as much as I hate them!) If your willing to add a little more cash then I would go with co-axials or components in the dash and a sub and amp in the boot, leaving the 6x9's out. Eventually tou can buy an amp and power the components in the dash. It all depends on you inclination and your cash situation. :) Good luck with it all.

Thanks Sando. I think I'll stick with dash speakers just now as cash is an issue, but I also like my parcel shelf the way it is.

This might be a dumb question, but if you have speakers on the parcel shelf, how do you handle those times when you want to fold the seats down? Do the speakers attach with removable clips to the rest of the wiring?

Before my MDF acoustic rear shelf with JBL 6x9's got nicked B) , I had a pair of those little screw-down connectors on the speaker wires so that I could unscrew them to remove the shelf :)

i have a 12" sub powered by an amp, with alpine 4"(10cm) co-axials in the dash was wantin a set of 6x9's either on a stealth shelf or in the erar panels, but worried in case there will be to much bass and not enough mid, is there any easy solution to my problem?? will be savin more cash before i look at sorting it all out anyway so no rush for reply:(

if there's room between the arch and wheel its not low enough!

Subs an 6x9's on a parcel shelf dont mix, it will damage the 6x9's (thats the best thing for them) I'd just stick with the fronts and subs. Upgrade the fronts to components with the cash for the 6x9's, you really will be blown away with the difference.

I have a set of 10cm mids in the standard locations (for stealth more than anything) and the tweeters ATM mounted on top of the dash reflecting off the windscreen. When you get some, get a long cable for the tweeter and stick the tweeter in various locations with blu-tak. This way you can see how different tweeter placment affects imaging. I found that on top of the dash worked best for me as the imaging is superb, you really get a brilliant stereo efect and dont need to fiddle with balance. I have also tried it mounted on the A-Pillar, as near to the mid as I could get it. This worked well with an angled mount but meant drilling holes in the pillar for wiring. I might do it soon though as the components will be left in the car when I get rid this summer.
