OK I have my nice new head unit and my facia.

All I need to know is how the hell I get out the factory fitted monstrosity out of its overly large hole!

I have searched all the forum threads and forum what I can see people recommend that you do it with coat hangers cut into lengths.

But what do you do then?
Do you need to bend the ends into hooks and just pull it hard?
Is it clipped/secured in somehow?

Any extra advise would be a great help.

i have never removed a stilo unit or seen one BUT from what you ar saying i assume it has 2 little holes either side of it above each other?? if so you can get stereo removal tools from halfords for couple of quid you push them in and pull back and it releases little locks in side to enable the rdio to be pulled out. now you can do this with other items liek coat hanger large paper clip but it is a lot hader that way as on teh removal tools there are little lumps at end of the metal rods that hook inside.

also if you got a new steroe sometimes you get the tools with that but some makers use diff kinds

When I removed my unit there weren't any specific tools available - the space between the holes is smaller than any tool you can purchase from, say, halfords. So I used coat hangers.

Simply push the wire into the holes and this disengages the clips. (Leave the wires in.) Then grab the housing anywhere you can get a hold and pull.
