Hi, guys, after a few posts and loads of useful feedback (y) I have decided that I am going for the JBL Sub and Amp pack.

http://digitalsounddirect.co.uk/shop/product/products_id/1566.html

I just wanted to ask, the Bass Box supplied, will it allow me to gain the most out of the sub, what set up do you think I should use, I.E. facing the back seats or on the side looking in?

I also wanted to ask, if you guys thought Sound Deadening would be useful. I am planning on putting this kit in a Fiat Punto 1.2 2000 Model.

If you think sound deadening is in order, can recommend what one's and types.

Thanks in advance

The box wont be perfect, but as you're on a tight budget, theres not alot you can do about it :p As you listen to hiphop, you would have been better off with a ported box, but the majority of the budget deals have sealed boxes as they are easy and cheap to make.

as for position, ive got mine facing towards the rear hatch as that way they actually fit in my boot. If you have teh room, having the subs facing towards the rear seats would be better as it directs the sound pressure into the cabin not to the road.

As for sound deadening, im not sure on the quality of the mk2 puntos, but you can never have too much sound deadening. It made a huge difference in my uno, but then thats like a tin can (and id hope the newer puntos are a bit more sturdy). Stinger roadkill is a tenner a roll which cheap. Its not brilliant stuff, but again - as you're on a tight budget... If you can afford to splash a bit more, "Brown Bread" or "Dynamat" would be the best choices...

Is the type of bass box i am putting the sub going to make THAT MUCH of a difference, maybe its a dumb comment by me but its only a box at the end of the day :S

In a word, yes :) Sealed generally requires more power to shift air but gives a clearer tighter bass. A ported box has a port hole in it (designed, not just a hole cut out) which aids air movement - its more thumpy but also alot looser.

in a word this package that I am getting to play Hip Hop music is a good package and I should install and listen to it first before deciding on whether or not it needs sound deadening?

With hiphop a ported box would be better, but they rarely come in a budget package (as ive said) - so the sealed box will have to do ;) It just wont be as thumpy on the low notes.

As for the sound deadening, i would wait and see first. You will get rattles i garantee - but sound deadening wont cure them anyway. Sound deadening only cures resonance in the body panels.

ok Luke, I know you must be getting really annoyed by me, but seriously, I really appreciate all the help you have given me !

Thanks
