Hello,

I am looking at upgrading the whole audio system in my GP. This is the whole lot including headunit, speakers, sub and amp.

My budget is up to £300 for the lot. Any suggestions would be great.

Many thanks.

For that money your gonna wanna buy second hand or ex demo, a new headunit alone (if you want something decent) is gonna cost half you budget.

To keep costs down I'd go for a 4 channel amp run in 3 channel mode. One for each component and two bridged together for the sub. Works out cheaper than buying 2 amps.

That being said I don't see still how your going to buy.....
A new headunit
Sub + box
Amp
Components
Wiring kit
Sound deadening (optional but I'd do it before components, the standard speakers are more than adequate)
.....All for £300

Are you fitting it all yourself?
What do you want your headunit to do? CD/MP3/AUX is pretty much the minimum but iPod and Bluetooth conectivity will cost you more.

Yes I'll be fitting it myself with the aid of a friend who has fitted it all in his car. I'm now starting to wonder whether just to have a new head unit and upgrade speakers for now. This will enable me to buy better quality products.

Oh ok. As your in Kent keep an eye out in the events section as im going to start a regular meet in the Canterbury area. That way we can all have a chat face to face :)

As for your plan. Im not sure if your considering the rear speakers but dont. Get the front right and you wont even need the standard rear ones.

As for your budget im sure on the second hand market you can get a Head Unit, Front speakers, and amp for them and a 4 gauge wiring kit.

If you see anything then post it here and we can comment.

Thanks for your help, I was just wondering can I just have a sub with no amp, or are the amps necessary?
