No longer have the manual for the original headunit, so was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on the colour codes. I've had a look and the colouring at the moment is:

Pin
1 Pink/Black
2 Empty
3 Pink/White
4 Red (12V+?)
5 Violet
6 Empty
7 Empty
8 Black (Ground?)

I take it that Red is 12V+ and black is ground. Beyond that what are the colours?

I've just bought a JVC head unit, which is powered when I plug it into the current ISO connector, as I can open the motorised face and the display will come on when I press the display button. However, the unit will not fully power on when I press the power switch (in fact the light on the power switch goes out after a couple of seconds of being plugged in) and will not come on if I try to select a source. I figure that I need to move the red on the original ISO connector to pin 7, but do I need to move anything to pin 4?

There's an ISO connector with the unit, and the important cables are as follows:

Pin
1 Empty
2 Brown
3 Empty
4 Yellow (12V Memory Backup)
5 Blue/White
6 Orange/White
7 Red (12V+)
8 Black (Ground)

Anyone any idea what colours correspond and which pins they need to go in? Presumably I'll need to move the red wire on the original ISO to the 7 pin, but which do I need to move to the 4 pin? Help much appreciated.

its a cop out, but can you buy a converter? It'll save you rewiring it, it'll be easy to swap the old one back in if you sell the car.

Probably, but I'd gain more satisfaction from rewiring it (I don't know why, but it's the way I am!).

Am going to cut the original one tomorrow and buy some connections from Maplin tomorrow afternoon, so if anyone could post up the Fiat colour coding before then it would be much appreciated/
