Hi,
I just bought a 2002 1.2 Stilo but the stereo isn't working. It has the original cassette deck head unit. I took it out and investigated today, the head unit is receiving power and turning on properly. The output wires to the speakers are also fine as i connected an old hifi speaker to one and got sound. My guess is that there is some sort of problem with the speakers earthing but i'm not sure. By the way there is also an orange and white striped wire which seems to connect seperatley to the back of the head unit, through a different plug thing, it seems to have been tinkered with, could this be related to the problem? I'm really stumped as to what I should do next to fix this so any help or advice would really be appreciated.

Hey buddy welcome to the forum . It would be good if you could post a pic of the back of the unit, to help us understand a bit more
Also do you have access to an aftermarket one that you could try out and see weather it is the amp in the HU that you have now.
If an aftermarket one works then problem solved you can pick up cheap aftermarket units all the time and then you will have the advantage of being able to play CD's nd a higher output amp.

I don't think that the internal amplifier would be the problem because I'm getting sound when I hook up other speakers to it. The only thing that I can think of is that all the speakers are disconected or broken but I don't see how all 6 or so of them could be broken I'll have another poke around and take photos later. Is it easy to get any of the speakers out to check if they're broken?

Front speakers are fairly easy to access just take off the door card i really wont even bother trying to access the rears yet as you have to disasemble most of the rear of the interior.
You have checked that it is pluged in properly at the HU havnt you.
