my rear speakers over the past few week have been cutting out as if there was a loose connection. then the other day i was driving and no sound was coming out of the rear speakers and my sub stopped working (no bass). I have a switch wired to my sub so i can turn it on and off and now when i turn it on i get a constant loud squeeking noise from the back speakers but no bass from the sub.

the sub still pops though when turned on and the amp light is still on so i don't think either have them have blown.

one of my friends said it could be the rear outputs have gone on my headunit?

Does anybody know what it could be?

Thanks

Are the back speakers amped.
Could be bad earth where have you earthed amp.
Could be a loose RCA connection check them all.
Also could your remote wire be loose or grounding.
I very much doubt it is a problem with the HU i think its a case of checking every single wire including th power from the battery as sometimes a loose connection by the fuse can cause problems like this.

^ Thats good advice, do a thorough check on the wiring first.

I have had an Alpine H/U fail on the RCA outputs, not common, but if nothing else works try borrowing one and see if it makes a difference.

cheers for the replies.
iv not had chance to really take a good look at the wiring because its dark so im gonna have a look tomorrow.

BTW the headunit is standard and also the rear speakers are.

So you are saying that you have spliced off the back speakers to fit a sub onto a standard HU :D I think we know where our loose connection is.
