Jacking / stands / wheel removal

Hopefully you've been sensible and are working on a relatively flat and level area, leave your car in gear, chock your front wheels and jack it up!

(remember to loosen the offending side's rear wheel nuts)

Use axel stands!! Never work under a poorly supported vehicle!!

Remove the wheel to allow you access to the wheel arch and follow the handbrake cable from where you poked it out of the car interior along the underside of the car.
On either side (whichever your working on) there are two clips holding the handbrake cable to the underside of the car, undo these and then pop it up and out of a cradle like clip on the rear suspension. take a mental note of where all the sliding parts of the cable outer (rubber sleeves) are positioned for fitting your new cable.

The cable should now only be attached at the rear of the hub (towards the front of the car through the back plate.

Into the hub! (or not!)
