Unhappy Help! My car is leaking!

My 4 month old grande punto has sprung a leak! I discovered a few days ago that the carpet in the rear driver side was saturated. No one has been in the back with drinks or anything and there doesn't seem to be any wetness around door. There is water under the carpet but have no idea where it's coming from. It is now 3 days later and i'm still socking it up. Has anyone else had this priblem??

Re: Help! My car is leaking!

Im sure someone will be along with a bit more know how than me but...

Is it just at the back or at the front aswell (perhaps under floor mats if you have them).

If so it very likely to be the air con leaking.

Re: Help! My car is leaking!

maybe fiat forgot to fiat some seal.
Do you have a sunroof? make sure both ends of the sunroof drain (don't know th ecar, but they usally drain down A pillars, both sides) are mounted properly into the gulley, else water will travel all over the roofspace and maybe down insid the B pillars?

anyway, fiats problem, they can take it apart and pay for it, as their quality control is frankly poor

Do you have aircon?

My old man had a pipe go in his old land rover and the moisture from it all drenched the passenger and seat behinds footwells...

My mk2 hgt used to leak something rotten. It was the door seal letting in rain water.

Grande Punto, Grande Flood. help!!!

Hi, Driving through a thunderstorm on Thursday on the M4, got home to find; no exaggeration, 8/10 litres. of water on the drivers and rear passenger floor,
Just the one side nothing the other. I've stripped out the drivers seat and lifted the carpet to expose the felt and floor, all saturated! The plastic foam backed panel under the peddles is also soaked but I can't get it out. Any Ideas where the water might have got in? Any one suffered the same?

Re: Grande Punto, Grande Flood. help!!!

Three days later and I'm still out-there trying to dry the foam padding I can't remove, with the wife's hair dryer. Her handbag was on the floor in the back and is ruined along with the kids schoolwork.

I'm getting a bit fed-up with Fiat now as this is the last straw, we have waited 6 months for a heater switch and this all through the winter, the lacquer on the alloy wheels has lifted and look awful (still on going with Fiat), the horn failed, a plastic grill broke and a Fiat mechanic managed to damage the dashboard while fitting the heater switch (Still on going with dealer). I feel a letter coming on!

Re: Grande Punto, Grande Flood. help!!!

My other half just called me, she came out of work and jumped in the car to discover the same thing, drivers side full of water

Heavy rain today but it's a car not bucket!

She hasn't made it home yet but this combined with the poor performance, crap economy, bulb warning light when bulbs are fine and intermittent problem with electric windows has tipped me over the edge. This is the 4th Punto I've had now, I should have learnt my lesson

Edit: It's back, about an inch deep, soaked underneath of course - bailed it out, will be on the phone to Fiat in the morning, not happy.

Re: Grande Punto, Grande Flood. help!!!

Get them to a garage to be fixed then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see no point in drying a car out only for it to leak water again........get the leak sorted first!

Not the easiest thing to do at 6pm on a Monday evening, it's just a little annoying when it's parked out there in a huge storm, probably gathering more water.

Like I said above the first thing I'll be doing in the morning is calling Fiat and asking for them to sort it asap, this usually means a month in the future, no courtesy car and a half arsed job once it comes back.

Oh joy.
