Does anyone know of any upgrade kits avaliable for the 1.4 8v engine?

If so, where can they be got from?

If you mean upgrade in terms of performance, there isn't a lot available yet. Induction is on the drawing boards, cam (for test profiling)ordered from Fiat but won't arrive before several week, Mapping is available, other modifications being looked into.

Re: 1.4 8v upgrade kit avaliable?

There are a worrying number of people messing with what are pretty much brand new cars on here!

I read someone's tales of fitting a heath-robinson 57i kit which was butchered from some other car to fit. This can only result in problems.

They'll be the first to moan when it breaks. I'd leave it well alone until warranty is expired then start fiddling - or just buy the engine that delivers the performance that is required.

Its their cars, they can do what they want. Mods done correctly won't damage the engine.

As much as i wanted the 1.9 Sporting I could not find the 4k it was going to cost me.

Am not looking at major re-maps etc, just basic performance enhancements like induction kits mentioned above, but ones made for the car rather than a hack job. Surely the engine can cope with being able to breathe a bit better? It may be a new car but the basic engine units are a tried and tested design, not read anyone on here complain about engine problems.

I all the years I have done modifications, developed and sold modified items I did not have a single come back.

BTW I am not messing with anything. Also a lot of the tales are as a matter of fact tales. When it comes down to the basics it is in many cases either not related to the job done or abused in a way that is rather stupid.

I am not 16 and have spent in the industries more years on consultancy, research and development, testing and general work than a lot of the buyers are on the planet.

I agree that there is some people out there that do not know what they are doing. Still, this does not allow for a general statement like yours. I would expect from an adult a bit more.

If I would give you a figure right now I would just tell you stories. I am not very happy with the original airbox/intake design, which suggest improvement is possible. We are looking at the same time into the mapping, which again leaves space for improvement. As soon as we have made more progress, I will come back with the details.

The remap is not a problem when done properly. It is developed by two parties. Our partners are on of the three top people in the business with a long term experience in tuning and mapping. We are stronger on the hardware side (I hate software) but know how to map cars very well. The culmination of either expertise guarantees that we get stable results that do not do any long term harm to the vehicle.

It isn't in our interest to overmap cars. When mapping we get all data possible from the manufacturers about individual strength of components and othe technical info. From there we develop maps, uprated components and relevant maps.

We are aware that hardware restrictions restrict the software adaptations and when we want to increase power/torque further we need to improve on the induction side to start with and with more performance required in due course have to uprate other relevant components to be able to flow enough air (most important on Turbo Diesels) to burn the fuel in order to prevent damage to the engine or any of its components.

The examiner can't detect the map differences either, which means the manufacturers outlets will not be able to identify them.
