Hi!
My Fiat Grande Punto began having problems with the electical opening mechanism which initially would only work sometimes but in the end stopped working altogether.
I changed the the fuse for the boot lock mechanism which worked a couple of days but now it's back to working only sometimes.
The area where the fuse is makes a "click" sound when I attempt opening the boot.

The manual opening mechanism (by pressing the button at the lock in the boot) has always worked.

What could be wrong?

Check the loom where it exits the body and enter the tailgate...they are known to fray. Easily repairable.
+1 the wiring issues are usually inside the concertina rubber hose between the body and tailgate at the top or where the wiring plugs onto the tailgate lock.

While you're in there check the rear screenwash hose those crack letting screenwash inside the tailgate

Finally got around to checking the tailgate loom.
I big brown cable is completely severed which could explain my problem.
The screenwash hose is also completely severed (explaining why I havent been able to use the rear screenwash)

Looking forward to getting it fixed to see if I can manage to get it to work

Thanks for the response!

Glad you've found the issue.

Repair the wire, add some length and insulate it well with shrink tubing or something like that which is robust as the wire moves when you open the tailgate. Similarly get a connector and replace a length of the washer tubing and the water will come out of the spray in tailgate instead of leaking into the boot :)

I fixed the same issue few minutes ago. Found 4 wires cutted inside concertina rubber hose ! That fixed also light in the boot
