I've had a look at quite a few threads and I'm a bit confused so thought I would ask. My gear selector cable on my Grande Punto 2007 plate 16V has snapped and I am confused as to which cable I need as the garage has suggested I find it myself. My question is: are the gear selector cables (I was told I need two) identical, as in I can buy 2 of the same gear selector cable? Where would I find the part number if not? Also, what is the best way of finding a part in short notice, I live in London and will try local scrapyards but are there any other places?

Yes infact you need two of different gear selector cables. You should get your car's VIN code before you start looking for the part. I think you can try searching eurocarparts.com or ask their customer service to look for the right parts for you. This is a part that wears so it'd not last long if you bought the part from the scrapyard.
