If you get a used steering column with same part number then is is plug and play. With mine I got a used one with different part no and it was also plug and play and proxy alignment.

So....the replacement unit is on its way and I have looked at the 'how to' re the removal of the steering colum etc.
My question is this...do I follow the 'how to' or the shortened version in the comments?..Anyone had expierience of changing motors etc?...

Today I finally got round to fitting the 'new' £40 steering motor/column.
I used the short version and am pleased to say it works..so far.
When I initialy started it up it had a few error messages on the dash and then the steering went awol...hmmmm
I left it a while and thought id try again and low and behold..it worked!!..no dash lights no funny noises(apart from me that is)..drove it round for a bit and all seems well.
Hopefully its a long term fix as I now have been tasked with selling it on..
