Hi there folks,
I drive a 1.2 Emotion, Grande Punto.
It’s done 58000+ kms in 7 years.
Flashback.
I was away and when I came home after knowing how’s everything and later asked my dad how had the car been ?
It was almost brand new back then, like probably was around 23000 kms on the odo. In 2-3 years.
My dad told me that for some reason the cars transmission won’t work. They got it checked and there was no transmission oil. So they fixed it, and the steering oil had leaked too we had to fix the steering as well.
I drive other grande puntos as well, diesels and petrols i didn’t like the rubbery gear shift to be honest, you get used to it, but still with reverse and often in my car doing 3rd to 4th I hear a little whistling not a happy whistle. It’s happening quite often I’d say.
I wonder why fiat has such gear boxes ? Does this notchyness bring any longer life to the engine or transmission? Because it’s fine until I drive my car, but when I start driving other cars I start hating puntos gearbox everytime I shift. It just doesn’t feel like a big thing to shift in them, I doesn’t feels like an effort.
What’s your shifting experience?
Even the GM(chevy) BEAT, with fiat 998cc Diesel engine has better gearbox I mean wtf?
Since I have not changed my transmission oil now, could you guys share when was the last time you changed your transmission oil ?
My manual says 60,000 kms or 24 months do you work with that theory? I think my car would run another 20,000 but I probably will change sooner Like in between another 5000-7000 kms.
