Evening guys,

Just wondering if anyone had some specs for me on how to get my Tjet sounding a little more like an Abarth but louder. Not too loud that it drones and is stupidly obnoxious, but a nice deep grunt and a few pops and bangs.

I'd like to do a catback system which removes the centre silencer. I'll do it through Powerflow - anyone got videos/specs on what they've done? sizes etc..

Cheers,

Nick

Personally I would go and get something manufactured. I got mine done by Tony banks in Leeds for around 400 pounds. Stainless including flexi, Dpf back. Twin exit and you can customise the sound, sound didn’t interest me so I had a stainless box in there too but he will tailor to suit, very clever options and done in a day.

Abarth exhaust sits low on the T-Jet as it does not have the rear splitter. I got a twin tail powerflow cat back 2 1/4" with two boxes, front box is quite small. Not noisy, nice and deep with no drone and quiet unless you boot it. Nice burble on overrun. Pops and bangs are more to do with bad fuelling although an exhaust may accentuate the noise.

A short while after I got a decat from Germany and had a magnaflow cat fitted just in front of the front box under the car. This made negligible difference to the noise or performance.
Do your research on the powerflow place you plan to use, the components are good but some of the builds I've seen are not great.

Cheers

Brilliant and great photos. Have you got a video?

Cheers Ben,

That's my plan at the moment. It's booked in next week for the center section to be removed and replaced with straight pipe, leaving the original back box. It'll only be about £110 and it means when I'm in a financial position to do the rest they can sort the back end out for me. Hopefully they'll be able to do 2 1/4 inch from there. I'll let you know how it sounds.

Thanks,

Nick

Lol, video!!!!!! I’m nearly 50. It makes virtually no sound at all, the guys there where great though and he did ask if I wanted it sporty, I said no but options where there. I had it done as the back box from Fiat was about the same money and it was hard to find a pattern part at the time

:ROFLMAO:

And I'm not far behind so no video here either!

Make sure they don't just cut behind the flexi and call it a cat back, apparently a cat back never includes the flexi according to the guys that did mine.

I'd not bother taking out that box, wait until you can get a full system, you'll end up with bodged diameters that will probably have a detrimental effect on gas flow. I think mine cost £360 from the flange at the cat and make sure they actually have the tail pipe you want in stock before you go. Search powerflow tail pipes on Google, decide what you want and have it ordered if they don't have it.

Cheers

Im not too far behind either.... old guys rule t-shirt on order
love the system :D
I heard of tony banks on other forums but that system looks the dogs
Think i will be doing similar in future as my punto is here to stay as a run about for years to come.

Pops and bangs .. that is set in the ECU, timing fueling on accelerator lift.
Could have some effect of turbo spooling ... but is clearly done for sound in the Abarths.. as the turbo is small enough not to matter.
