Hello Guys and Gals.

I apologise in advance, as im certainly not a car geek.

I have recently bought an 07 Fiat Punto - thanks to me flipping my 04 Punto :bang::slayer:

After driving it for a week I feel as though the MPG is much less. (I get 400mph doing mainly 50-60mph roads, where as I would get 450~ in the previous Punto). When driving at 60mph my rpm is at around 3100, of which I think is a little strange. The 04 Punto I would reach 60mph at around 2700~.

Any ideas or thoughts?

So you're doing 400mph and the road is doing 50-60? What model rolling road is it?

My 1.2 Active Grande is also 3100 RPM @ 60mph. Slightly higher than my Mk1 1.2 - 3000 RPM @ 60mph.

Assume in the above you mean 40.0 mpg and 45.0 mpg. I drive 15 miles to work, about two thirds 40-60mph the rest 30mph or less and get 50-55mpg. On some longer motorway journeys I've reached an average of 60mpg.

I would have thought your new Punto would give at least the same if not better mpg than your old one all other things being equal.

Haha! I apologise its 4000miles to a tank. Compared to 450~ on my old Punto. Its a 1.2 Petrol.

Sounds like its how it should. Maybe it's just me looking for problems with the car!

I thought Gatsos didn't work over about 200mph

170mph apparently according to Top Gear.

So just whack in a Tuscan engine, rip off all the panels and chuck out your passengers, and you won't get caught! Of course you might find yourself merged into the Micra travelling 50 on the outside lane of course.
