Hi all,
I have to say before I start that I know majority of people that comment will be telling me to save up for another more powerful car but I'm not expecting that for 2-4 years, I'm stuck with my 1.2 GP, end of. I love it, just its weak, cant not admit that.

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a remap? A company (angel tuning) offered me a 12bhp increase which is bumped up to 15-17bhp with an itg airfilter, but ill probably be going for a gsr

It's expensive however, but I can work a lot and get some money saved up for it if needs be, should take me a week or 2.

IS there any competition / quality sort of thing when it comes to a remap? Such as one company better than the other?

Id like to do this as a little project for myself, saving up some ££ and seeing how nippy the 1.2 could actually be, you never know, it could become something special, well to me it's already special haha, the cherry on top I suppose.

Thanks for any input and sugestions

Kyle.

If you look at Angel Tuning web site they claim that the 1.2 Doblo and GP both kick out 65bhp.
And whilst they have no estimated figures of increase for the GP, they claim the Doblo get a 6bhp increase.

Honestly, hand on heart, you'll not feel it.
Save your money, its really not worth £250.

Here's a project for you.
As an experiment this weekend, dump the spare wheel, rip out the back seats, even rip out the front seat.
Drop down to 1/4 tank of fuel, and see if the car excites you.
This would be equivalent to 6bhp and you wouldn't have to spend £250 to find out.

A 12BHP increase would in theory bring it up to around the same power as the 1.4 8v, and I can tell you thats not going to excite you that much either!

Honestly dont waste your money on a remap, dont forget you would also need to tell you insurance company and as you have a 1.2 8v GP i'm guessing this is your first car or you are a young driver. You insurance company will happily increase your premiums dramatically. All good money that could be spent on a new car with a much larger engine further down the line.

Also I honestly mean this with no disrespect but if you bought a 1.2 8v surely you couldn't have expected it to be fast or exciting in anyway? My advice would be to enjoy the car, the GP is easily one of the best looking superminis you can get. Enjoy the looks and style and not the power, then look for a faster car down the line (y)

There's a general consensus here Kyle... sorry
Save your money.
;)

I wouldn't have knows AT's estimations are high without peoples feed back, thanks a lot!

And it was purchased for me, I maintain the car.
I never really complained when I was offered it, at the time, a car with low milage was great :D
Of course now though if I had the chance id have gone for a 1.4 16v if possible
I don't think I even asked what the engine size was, just asked for a picture :p

Angel Tuning would tell you you could twist the chassis of your GP with one of their remaps if it brought them some cash. Absolute jokers and crooks.

also LOL @ a remap on a 1.2 NA ;)

I'd quite like to see this done to prove whether it makes a difference and to see how far you can take the 1.2 before mechanical errors start. It's your money at the end of the day mate

Sam

Impossible. You can't do anything to it that would stretch the mechanicals, the only things that would bring power would involve changing them so its a null null.

Yeah its hardly breaking the bank in terms of performance mods though. how much bhp did he get from that, 6-7?

It's a shame that nothing really adds that much power to a 1.2
Could spend 1000's if i wanted too, probs get 80 break at the most.
It's a **** reality for a 1.2 gp owner :D

Don't even know if a gsr is worth it, the k&n makes a nice enough noise as it is,
actually, is any performance mod at all worth it? probably not haha

probarly better off spending my money on looks
