Tuning 1.2 8v remap?

Or you could save the money up for your next motor. In a few years time the insurance on a more powerful car will become more affordable and you'll have some cash to get one... This was what I always did anyway and it worked out well.

In 3 years a focus rs 2.5, my ideal 2nd car, is the same insurance price as my current insurance now haha, lifes tough

That's certainly a big jump! I was thinking more a 1.4 Multi-air or T-Jet.

Yeah I was thinking the same, your next best step would probs be a 1.4 16v
I love the GP, it's lovely to sit in, and to drive, well when your not talking about power, but anyways, I want to move away from fiat, unless it's an abarth GP maybe. Even those 0.8 turbos look fun haha, more bhp than the 1.2
By the time I'm thinking of a 2nd car most 1.9's will be rather old (they dont make them anymore if I'm not mistaken, only 1.4's) And the 1.6's are rather rare arn't they? I think they exist, not too sure, saw someone talk about one on here. None on auto trader or ebay.

Only problem with the rs is I wont have much to upgrade too after that unless my life goes great and I can afford even better :p

how is the k&n fitted? most of them take away power

It's odd, when I got it I knew nothing about cold air induction, if i was to get one now I wouldn't have chosen the 57i (made for GP version)

It's a flat filter that sits on top of the air intake, with a cold air feed pointed towards it which leads to the front grille, I'm gonna add another cold air feed to maybe help.
Definitely a poor design from k&n, if your going to get an induction kit, splash out and get the bmc :p

Best think about the k&n though is the very nice humm it makes, takes no effort at all to get a nice note out the bonnet :p

(edit, found a pic taken a while ago)

(Ive since changed where the pipe leads too, it's now behind the grille, I couldnt figure out how to remove that weird plastic thing hiding the gap to the grille when i took that pic :p) I've also moved the pipe away from the top of the engine, less heat hopefully )
Spend your monies on handling. Eibach sportlines, Bilstein B6 shocks, forge subframe braces and some Rota, OZ or Compomotive light alloys.

Then you wouldnt need to slow down as much on the corners and more importantly round abouts :p

I forgot to mention you'll get all the bitches :p
Bitches only care about what they can see, those +10bhp go faster stripes are like ***** magnets

(feel like i have to mention that was a joke)

They can be tweaked to buggery -- at least 400bhp (which is really too much for FWD). A hedge is waiting.........
Aye I've seen them on auto trader, some at 250bhp, some at 400! It's fantastic!
cold air feeds don't work, scrap the k&N and refit standard box and filter.
I like the noise it makes :p

what are you 0-60 and 1/4 mile results with and with out the air feed?

Pmsl its a fiat GP not a 1/4 mile purpose built fast and furious race type car lol. I cant say I have been 1/4 mile drag racing my car around the streets tbh.

What I can tell you is that the engine runs smoother and it is more response with the ITG. I am sure there are others on the forum that would say that an induction kit does a better job than the standard airbox and standard air filter :D

a k&n filter bolted on top of a throttle body with a cold air feed isn't an induction kit:rolleyes:

when people think its works is called a placebo effect

1/4 mile and 0-60 is the old way to test air feeds as it cant be done on a rr, use a track not the street.

@dave

With the greatest of respect mate and I am not the argumentative type and don't wish to be disrespectful or argue with you mate. I am sure your knowledge of cars and driving totally outweighs mine. But as for calling it a "Placebo Effect" then I am sorry but that is not accurate.

For example since installing my "Placebo Effect" or more commonly knowing my ITG induction kit I have noticed the following:-

1) My car does not idle now where near as high as it does with the standard air box and air filter/aftermarket filter.

2) My car engine runs cooler and smoother.

3) The car is noticeably more responsive when accelerating.

All of three of the above are noticeable and visible and therefore the induction kit is not a "Placebo" as you put it.

I have in past used the standard air filter, a K&N filter and a BMC filter of which I believe the BMC was the best out of them. In terms of induction kits I can only comment on two being the K&N 57i which I wholeheartedly believe is just a noise maker or "Placebo" if you like. Whereas, on the other my ITG gave me the three noticeable changes above together with giving them car a nice 'note/noise' to accompany the Abarth exhaust system.

Kind regards
Stephen

That was the nicest reply ive ever seen on this forum, usually most tend to just rant and rage.
Where did you get your itg? Cant seem to find a stockist, im really liking the sound of it
If its cheaper than gsr then im in :p

The problem is that people say different things. Without objective data, we get nowhere. After all, I can find people who believe that God exists, the world is flat, and that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a documentary (but not necessarily at the same time).

Of course, it annoys old hacks like me and Dave.

Engines like cold, clean air. If you can ensure that (and ensure that the induction system is unlikely to gobble up lots of water) then you're on the right track. Whether you'll be able to feel the difference, let alone measure it, is quite another thing.

But the standing quarter is the most reliable test, whether you're running a dragster, a pimp mobile or a shopping trolley.

No mate its not cheaper than a GSR I opted for the ITG because I couldn't get a hold of a GSR.
