Yeah that's what's been done mate. The car itself is so much quieter and smoother now but the original noise remains.
A while back I broke my engine tray and replaced it with one without any sound proofing, might stick some sound proofing insulation on the engine tray and see if that gets rid of the noise.

My old car did this, even after 2x gear box rebuilds, clutch & dmf replacement and cambelt done.

I took it into the specialist who did the belt and he seemed it was the air con compressor even when it wasn't turned on.

Mine doesnt make the noise in neutral/ when idleing. As soon as I push the accelerator it does the noise and it does it all the way through the gears aswell. Been informed the bearings are going. It makes my engine sound dead rough n loud from outside n whirring noise inside the car. Im replaceing it nxt week smtime. I will give u a update when iv had it dun mate let u know for sure

Also unless u have changed the drain pipe urself then all the water off ur window when raining ect drains straight on 2 ur alternator as good as neways. I wud suggest chageing that aswell when uv dun the alternator u can get adapted ones off ebay I will put a link on for it later

Well, it would make sense I guess as I clean my car pretty much everyday (pretty sure I'm OCD lol) would appreciate an update after next week :) how much is an alternator mate?

Lookin around £150 for alty n £15 for a new belt. U cud get ur old one referbed guy on my thread bout it got his refurbed for £70 but u obviously cant use ur car for few days that way lol

Update, this is the weirdest thing ever,
When I am freewheeling in neutral and rev the engine I get the noise.
When I am in neutral at a standstill I do not get the noise?! What is going on here!!

Had it into the garage today and they've reduced my bill significantly, they now suspect that the issue is driveshaft related or something along the shaft, but said they won't know if it's that or not unless they replace it. This car is driving me insane now so probably going to part ex it to be honest :(

Mine went partly because of that noise to! No one really seemed to know what it was until they started stripping bits off.

After having thousands spent on various bits it went. Couldn't cope with cost on what was a very average car any way.
