I have Grande Punto '56 1.9JTD Multijet Sporting 130bhp, and am looking to fit a crankcase air breather filter onto the engine, just to see what's what. However, I have no goddam idea where it is meant to be attached, or if existing parts need to be removed, etc. Neither can I find this information plainly for my car, but can not also find this information for any other cars as a reference.

Some examples.
MAGNUM WASHABLE Crankcase Vent Filter Breather Fiat Grande Punto 1.9L to 5/8...3/4 Inch ID hose: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
http://www.knfilters.co.uk/vent.aspx

If anyone has fitted one of these to this engine, or knows how then please tell me, I even have the Grande Punto Mechanics Tech Manual on disc and cannot even find a labeled diagram of the crankcase to look at.

Any advice much appreciated :worship:

Ok so if you don't know where to fit it, don't buy it. Even if you knew where to fit it, don't buy because it's an MOT fail. They're not allowed to breathe to atmosphere and need to recirculate back into the system. Leave it alone!

Hi mate.
I have one fitted onto mine. Basically the filter hose that's connected to your standard air box is what your looking for, small hose. You connect it onto that securing it properly.

I've had mine on ages now, and has passed MOT's, my friend is a MOT tester too and he's said it's fine if its fitted securely

Hope this helps mate

I guess I'll fit one, then ask the MOT mechanic if its going to be trouble when the time comes. As for the noxious gasses, I'll see what kind of air flow is going through that area, maybe a little plastic tubing will expel such nasties.

Cheers to all respondents!!! (y)

for what gain? i don't understand why you want to fit one, people only normally fit one if they have a bad designed induction kit with no connection on it for crankcase vent hose.

Exactly, they don't gain you anything, and you've already got a hose to take any fumes out of the way. It's just a waste of money.
