I dunno if its just me being strange but does anyone else's 1.4 8v or even the 1.2 8v sound abut tappy on idle ?
It's not terribly loud, but I can't remember it being like this, maybe the weather?

Anyways the car is serviced regularly, I'm using the right all, as it got done at a fiat garage last month, I dont thrash the car, and its done 40,000 miles.

If anyone has a video of there GP engine on tickover that would be much appreciated, and I can see if mine sounds the same, and hopefully have nothing to worry about LOL

did this start after the last service perchance?

first check the air intake pipe is secure on the right chassis leg and not pulled out of the rubber ring mount

I dont have the original airbox on. got a k&n filter on :/

have you checked the oil?

Take the oil cap off is it full of white mayo? (do you do short trips?)

Did they check the tappets on service?

if all above ok start car and carefully remove oil cap... Is oil splashing out of oil filler slightly? it wont be a lot more of a spray....

has the car been stood for long period over christmas or for a few days?

No Mayo Under Oil Cap, I do short trips, car gets used daily, and has never been stood longer than a couple of days. Not sure if they checked the tappets on service :/
