Hi,

Just a quick question about a thing I have noticed under the hood.
Where the windscreen wiper motors are in the little grooves nearwindscreen water goes into there when it rains (obviously) but then where is it supposed to.go ?

I've noticed a rubber grommet under the bonnet where the wipers are and water is dripping from that grommet onto the alternator ... This may be why in the morning my car screeches, or has poor start up.

Is this normal.for the water to be dripping out of that grommet ?

Thanks

there is an updated "bent" drain to divert it away

cheaper option is to measure the diameter and get some heat shrink tubing from a electrical whole sales as another member reccomended and extend it down past the alternator :)

Oh dear....I've just took a look actually at my grommet and its been put in upside down....so I've put it the right way with the bent bit down ward....with the split facing the front.

Is this correct ?

Wonder if that's why its screeching and starting crap in the morning ?

Hi mate,

I would sort that out ASAP, especially if you are parking outside with the current weather.

This has been happening to mine and from leaving it parked outside the water has frozen onto the alternator and damaged it and the aux belt when trying to start it. I have taken it to the garage for a new alternator, drain pipe (as suggested above) and aux belt which has costed me £400!

From discussions with the service department, the modified drain pipe is defs the way to go!!!

Oh my God really ? That's pretty bad....well I've modified the drain pipe basically I've turned it away from the alternator so it steers away from it....but I'm still afraid that it's splashing off the bottom and back on the alternator
