are you sure? cause my dads was a 55 Plate peugeot and last year they replaced his water pump....

Unless the pump has failed they wont jump to replace it........
What i was trying to get across is the
Water pump
Cam belt
cam belt tensioner
should all be replaced when the car is 4 to 5 years old dependent on use / mileage
Since it sounds like the head gasket has gone and the engine has to be partially dismantled now is the ideal time to get those parts changed regardless of who is paying for them as they will have the cam belt off anyway (to get the head off the belt needs removing.)
since the belt is removed the water pump can be easily accessed and for the sake of 10 mins labour replaced with a new one eliminating the risk of the old one failing 5 months down the line and having to pay for the work doing again
I take it your dads car developed a water leak from the pump?

Erm he said it failed or something, so it needed replacing.
