My mate has a Stilo and it has a feature whereby you hold you lock button on the key fob and it automatically shuts all the windows. I was surprised and disappointed that my GP doesn't have this.

Is there any way of enabling this feature? Please someone say there is!

That point was raised a few years ago, when in some markets the GP would have this function as standard, but not in Britain, sadly. If I remember correctly, the only way to achieve total closure through the key-fob, is by installing an alarm, such as the one by Gemini for example, surely there will be other reputable alarm makers who can offer the same. Let's see if other members of this forum can shed more light into this issue, I'd love to be able to add this feature to my GP too.

For some reason 'lazy locking' or total closure is normally only fitted to cars with an alarm system (factory or aftermarket). I guess the alarm electronics are used to control it but there is no good season why this couldn't be done by the main 'body computer'.

The short answer is no you can't have it unless you fit an aftermarket alarm with the right spec.

Well that's a damn shame, It seems odd that Fiat wouldnt have it considering it was already available on the Stilo plus it can't be that hard to program it in since everything is electronic anyway. Wonder why they chose to omit it. :(

Wrong, the Whole Stilo range had it, same with the Bravo, regardless of Alarm fitment.

It all comes down to cost and range of car, Stilo and Bravo are not your budget car (when new) where as the Punto is, and as a result is built at as smaller cost as possible.

Although probably only a matter of programming it into the body computer, why would Fiat do that, when the can keep it just to the high ranging motors they sell?

Does the GP even have deadlocking out of interest for example?

TBH its a great feature to have, but hardly worth bothering with retrofitting IMO. Try explaining that to your insurance company when it comes to declaring mods

That told me! The two do seem to go hand in hand often though. Maybe it is to reduce the number of false alarms when people leave windows open.

It is definitely the case that an aftermarket alarm can be used to add lazy locking.

Most cars fitted with an alarm have a method to turn off the interior sensors, often a switch on the centre consol. It allows windows to be left open or dogs to be left in the car.
